Recruiting Discussion

No idea but we aren't mentioned as a factor so I
Assuming that's better for the PR side of things to assume

Not at all, the kid hasn't even taken any visits yet, not sure much can be taken from anything at this point. Local Turkish reporters around the team said Tennessee and Duke specifically have been after him for months and mentioned Tennessee has traveled across the pond to see him, sounds like to me they're involved to some extent at the very least.

Hope you are correct but us not being mentioned in the article I took as coming from him

Perhaps that isn't the case

It's not a positive, but I also wouldn't take it to mean we are dead in the water and done recruiting him. Kids have so many schools in contact that I have seen countless interviews done where a kid doesn't list the exact list of schools correctly, again, it's not a positive but I don't think we've halted our efforts either.

Wasn't this the only recruiting report this kid has ever had done with him?

This may be nothing but he's following Coach Lanier on Twitter. The only other coach I can find that he's following is Coach Capel at Duke. It doesn't look like he's on twitter very much though, so that might not mean anything. I just find it weird that he'd be following a UT assistant if there was no interest?

Huh....

Wouldn't the US be the only place that covers college recruiting?

Is the US the only place that discusses the NBA? Yurtseven was a key part of his Turkish team, his decision to leave them and attend a US college was big news, seems pretty likely team reporters would talk about that move, no?

UT would not have flown to Turkey to see him and recruit him if there was no interest.

From VQ on what Tennessee's pitch to Yurtseven is...

Everyone I've talked to thinks he has a chance to be one and done and Tennessee is selling him on getting all the shots and minutes he can handle from what I understand.

Heard anymore on his eligibility? You mentioned Kanter.
He played 9 games for the same team and received $30K which the NCAA said was too much.
this kid's played 3 years with the same team. Was that for free? What are the chances?
Several tweeters have said he was paid.

NCAA allows for accepting payment to cover expenses. $30k for 9 games sounds like a little more than expenses in Kanter's case.

Sounds like a double standard to me. Had a kid on the football team couple years ago that took 200 to feed his kids.
Never played again.

He's allowed to be paid, how much is what becomes the question, Evan Daniels seems to think he'll be eligible.
