Bleed - thought he was recently rated a bit higher in Bball. Either way do you think he is a lean to UT or will Barnes pass on him?

That's his composite ranking at #125, his 247 ranking is in the 70's and ESPN has him in the 80's, scout and rivals have him a bit lower.

Barnes' is not passing on him, if anything he is turning up the heat, he is a priority for us. He committed to just basketball almost a year ago and it has really benefited him, he's in much better shape and his game is really coming around.

Didn't he take an entire season off? From what I recall, Stokes was easily a top 100 OL that was recruited by basically every major football program.

He was, but he essentially quit playing football. He has said some coaches still call and ask periodically, but he's committed to basketball and that change seems to be resulting in an improved game.

I don't even see Isaiah Stokes listed from 247 Sports in the basketball recruitment category. He is for football so what's up with that? Isaiah Stokes, Lausanne Collegiate School, Offensive Tackle

Nothing for basketball. Nothing! 247 Sports is also missed up in the basketball recruiting stuff. When you sort by recruits from the state of Tennessee it list Virginia recruits. at the top of the list & not Tennessee. But, the actual recruits below Virginia is the ones from Tennessee except for one.

Edit: They must be having site issues. Things are back to normal now for the states but now I see sidebar link problems. I don't know what's going on.

They haven't created a basketball profile for Stokes, however he is included in both their national and composite rankings.

Gotcha. Thanks! Wonder when they're gonna do that? I mean he's announced a while back he's all basketball now. They should have a basketball profile up for him by now.

I mean he will be graduating in less than a year now. They need to get him up there on the website as a basketball recruit.

I had to come over here, because Rob Lewis is depressing me over there. I guess any top teams get involved with a prospect Tennessee is recruiting, we should just give up. That sure seems to be Rob Lewis's attitude.

If that's the case it's hard to see things getting much better anytime soon

That's been the case since Barnes was hired. Really haven't beaten any good programs out for anyone since he got here

It's a worrisome attitude for someone who covers the team on an almost daily basis. Barnes is getting paid 2.4 million and Rob Lanier 378k for what? I'm frustrated as a die hard Tennessee fan. That's why I've complained since last year, if this is how it's going to be recruiting wise for the first 3 years or so then use the Iowa State model of multiple grad transfer's, regular D1 transfer's and Juco's with just a few high school player's that you think can develop in 2-3 years as starter's. That way you are competitive immediately without sacrificing recruiting classes/scholarship's clogged up down the road. Right now there are 10 underclassmen on scholarship which screws up the balance of classes. Sorry for the rant.

It's all been said.
Starting over then stabilizing for a few years and then hiring a bargain basement block buster in 2019.

Cheek may be pushing to replace basketball with Spelling Bee championships.

Good old Bruin. Loves when he gets to take a shot at the coach

2 things:

1)
I could take a shot everyday all day with how things have gone so far. The optimism said "wait until relationships are made with the 17 class and watch the results skyrocket"

I am still waiting

2)
I hate an more than half empty TBA. I saw that in the wade houston, Kevin oneil, and buzz Peterson days. I damn sure don't enjoy seeing our program heading toward those levels

Out of all the recent coaching hires in the SEC Barnes and his staff are the worst at recruiting.

Well previously they were the best until getting here.

It's not what you guys are saying. It's mostly the top recruits just don't want to come to UT to play basketball. That's more what it is.

It's not Barnes! He got several top recruits while at Texas. Texas was/is a much better basketball problem than UT. They just ain't following him to UT.

Maybe they don't like to buy things that have an expiration date that has past by

Pearl got several top recruits while here. What's changed except coaching? let's see: UT deficent in- facilities? fan attendence?

Maybe it's the color?
