Not that black and white IMOHe seems pretty serious about it, not sure bold faced lying about that would be wise. I understand lies are told in recruiting, but IMO that one would be a little bit worse than your typical, "you're gonna compete for a starting spot" lie that's told.
If the kid is telling coaches he loves basketball and wants to play both and Butch tells him he can here, and once here he says sorry I lied, that likely doesn't end well IMO.
Once you get him here you leave it up to him but with serious strings attached.
"Your future in the nfl depends on you this offseason getting bigger stronger and faster. Playing hoops is going to set you back in Buiding the strength you need to be a top 10 pick in the NFL draft in 2 years. I strongly encourage you to think about how much $ you are throwing away to play a half of season of hoops"
Perhaps he still plays under such encouragement but I don't it with his special elite skill set in football
