Record time for throwing in the towel

The sad truth is Tennessee is on the verge of losing an entire generation of fans. Some kids will be boring into and accept being a TN fan, but so many kids are front runners. It’s why you see so many “Bama” fans. TN needs to get its **** together and fast. The fans are out of patience.

Lol. There is no getting it together fast. I have been a fan since 1985 and I am nowhere even close to being out of patience. But then again, I am a pretty rational Vol fan.

Are we back to blaming fans? Thought we have moved past that.

PS....the death of a program looks like having every team in your conference favored to beat you. It has nothing to do.With fans.

Hmmm, so who is blaming fans? I see people calling certain fans utterly stupid for their reactions this sesson. Dont know what the problem is with that?

Op said what the fans are doing is what the death of a program looks like. Appears to me he is saying fans actions are leading to the death of the program.

Im not saying im giving up my fandom or anything. But I’m not very invested right now. Most fans have gotten to that point I think

Our fan base is more emotionally weak than a teenaged girl. Its no wonder why people make fun of the Vols fans.
Our emotionally week fan base almost filled Neyland and was extremely vocal coming off of three subpar performances and an 0-8 Season. We are loyal to a fault and have a terrible return on investment for at least ten years, if not twenty. We need better players, not better fans.

To be frank, not much point in watching this season, and you’ll see attendance decline as a result.

Build it and they will come (back).

Look at Miami in the 90s and Early 2ks. It was a packed house at every game. Before Richt, home games looked like high school state championship games.

Now fans are coming back since they’re winning.
You can't be frank and Cody at the same time, gotta choose one and stick with it.

I have never in my life seen so many give up on a Tennessee team so quickly. New low achieved. We need some sunshine pumpers ASAP.
This new "we have sucked, we suck now, and we will suck tomorrow" attitude has to go. If losses are a given, why even bother to watch? This is what a program's death looks like.
If the top Administration doesn't care why should the fans?

Im very close to throwing in the towel. Not because of Pruitt. It's because of the playcalling last week. I'm anxious to see if any adjustments were made this week to try and compensate for the OL and defensive blitzes. Screens, toss sweeps, slants etc.

For me, it's just finally came to finding other things to focus on. Over the years, decisions have been made at the university and it's related entities that has eroded my perception and enjoyment of the Vols. Time forces change in everything. People retire and die. But instead of finding better people to fill these roles, they settle for people of lesser talent and we end up with lesser results. The continuing drama played out in the behind the scenes power struggle between donors has become a farce and I find it boring. It's all become a long running joke with a **** punchline.

It goes beyond UT for me. I am tired of the idiotic rule changes in college football. I am sick to death of hearing the word, "targeting". Even when the call might benefit us. Nowadays, I find myself watching just enough of the Vols to see Saint Phil has not parted the waters to the promised land yet, going to do something else, and catching highlight shows to get a taste of football without the frustration of stupid calls and further reviews. Too much BS sucking the life outta it. Some of you young guys might not get it, but I am sure the older ones might relate. I just feel like that guy from, "Road to Perdition"; "Cause it's all so effin hysterical."

Somebody wake me up when they get some sense about it.

Meh, it's not rocket science. When things appear or are good, most revel in it. When things are bad, people complain. Some complain regardless.
Jones was fired because he laid the foundation for a bad football team. Many convinced themselves and others that we were a good team and just switching the staff would have us in contention immediately.
It was just never true.

Can this staff fix that eventually?, IDK but it's not happening this season. I've just buckled in a little tighter because it's going to be bumpy but I'll be here for the entire ride.

Charger, completely off-topic: why do you have an avatar of a monkey disco-dancing? I've wondered for a while now. :)

Lol.
I'm not a huge fan of manufactured drama and that's a human speciality. Animals are what they are and do what they do.
I hated the new giant letters beside everyone's name so I searched "interesting pictures". Saw this Lemur caught on camera while enjoying his day, regardless of how tough his life may be and thought "yep".

I'll probably change it ever so often, Behr has already found me a few nice ones😂

Let's hope some of the mistakes we saw on Saturday are correctable. If we can find a way to block some people and protect the ball, I think we could see a completely different team this Saturday.

That said, from what I have seen so far, UGA's defense flies around with a purpose and protecting the ball is a going to be a tall order

All of the mistakes are 100% correctable. Hopefully the focus this week has been on those mistakes.

Dang it, you quoted me before I changed Lemar to Lemur.
Lemar is a billboard rental company I believe. And of course I replied before looking because that's what I do. Bet I know what all my VN advertising will be this month.

Haha, you're stuck with it! :)

All Behr's ads are for Shirley Temple movies on Netflix now.

Wrong. Many fans love the Vols and will always love them. The crap on this board is not a majority of Tenn fans.

Well, I have decided to stick with the team no matter what happens. I will watch every beat-down, every frustrating quarter. The reason? I have no other team. I am NOT going to become a Vandy fan, I am never going to convert to Alabama (I would rather watch root canals on You tube), I just have no other option. I have supported UT all my life, and I am not about to give up yet. Complain? Yes! Grumble? Absolutely! Give up? Never!
I have taken a lot of ribbing from my West Virginia friends. I got the annual emails from friends in Florida. I expect more emails from Georgia and Alabama soon. I can take it. I only have one team. So, giving up is not an option. GBO!
You, sir WIN the golden Twinkie. Thanks.

Losses are an absolute given the next 3 games, yet I and thousands other Vol fans will be watching the next 3 weeks.....it’s called being a lifelong Vol fan.

You’re overreacting regarding the “program’s death” sentence. See: Browns, Cleveland....that team never wins, yet the fans keep showing up, keep pulling for their team to win, the despite the realities that they surely understand and embrace.

I know this year is gonna be rough, that the Vols are very likely to go 3-9 and run their winless SEC game streak to 17....but I and countless others will still be here, disappointed, criticizing, and yet somehow hopeful when 2019 rolls around.

And even the “crap on this board” doesn’t mean that fans are going away. Disappointed, even angry, sure....but never absent.

Sunshine pumpers are like butch jones press conferences, they talk a lot, pretend to be smarter/better than they and lecture you a little, but in the end everyone just laughs at them.
