I have never in my life seen so many give up on a Tennessee team so quickly. New low achieved. We need some sunshine pumpers ASAP.
This new "we have sucked, we suck now, and we will suck tomorrow" attitude has to go. If losses are a given, why even bother to watch? This is what a program's death looks like.

To be frank, not much point in watching this season, and you’ll see attendance decline as a result.

Build it and they will come (back).

Look at Miami in the 90s and Early 2ks. It was a packed house at every game. Before Richt, home games looked like high school state championship games.

Now fans are coming back since they’re winning.

Reports of our death are a tad premature .

Nobody is giving up on anything but this has been a theme for over a decade so this isn't all of a sudden. We are tired of the suckage

I used to be one of the positive ones who would come up with some type of reason to have hope. But at week 5 into this season (and counting the last several years) they have broke me. I’m not having very many positive thoughts for this football team as of late.

Some of us who have been on this planet a few more rotations, and who have raised young’uns, know that gritting of teeth and self-enforced patience are sometimes required when desired outcomes don’t materialize on demand. Wishin’ don’t make it so.

I will step aside for the inevitable torrent of posts re: settling, excuse-making, sunshine pumping, participation-trophy-presenting and whatnot.

In the meantime I will return to my dark thoughts about Haslams, Mike Hamilton, Dave Hart, and whatnot. May they rot in Heck. (trying to behave myself)

edit to add: some things just take time, like some good recipes. If you keep firing the chefs ( —and hiring craptastic chefs in the first place), it’s gonna take even longer. Like it or not.

People watch because they love. And you don't give up on what you love.

I wouldn't be critical of folks that know what time it is. The season is over. Florida is already out the window. Georgia and Alabama are a foregone conclusion. South Carolina looks less than promising (beating Muschamp would make people happy).

All that's left is Kentucky and Vandy and Tennessee fans don't get all giggly about the season's highlight being a win over Kentucky and/or Vandy. And that's if they get it.

You can love something. Eventually, it's got to start loving you back.

Interesting. Only emotionally weak people care about if others are making fun of them. Why did you mention it?
Yeah, im more of the mindset that people make fun of vols fans because of the yearly preseason predictions, unrealistic expectations etc despite the state of the program over the last decade. And living in enemy territory ive got first hand knowledge of such.

I have colleagues who are dear to me who root for our rivals. We do some playful jabbing about our teams. Then we move on to important stuff. Never ever worried if someone was laughing at my fandom.

I work with all auburn and Alabama fans. They never make fun of me cause im realistic about the program, just they used to do the same as your folks, now its more pity. But there are a couple other vols fans I work with that are constant champs of the pre-season. People make fun of them all the time.

Let's hope some of the mistakes we saw on Saturday are correctable. If we can find a way to block some people and protect the ball, I think we could see a completely different team this Saturday.

That said, from what I have seen so far, UGA's defense flies around with a purpose and protecting the ball is a going to be a tall order

Let's revisit this post Saturday afternoon..... just for a little perspective

Well, I have decided to stick with the team no matter what happens. I will watch every beat-down, every frustrating quarter. The reason? I have no other team. I am NOT going to become a Vandy fan, I am never going to convert to Alabama (I would rather watch root canals on You tube), I just have no other option. I have supported UT all my life, and I am not about to give up yet. Complain? Yes! Grumble? Absolutely! Give up? Never!
I have taken a lot of ribbing from my West Virginia friends. I got the annual emails from friends in Florida. I expect more emails from Georgia and Alabama soon. I can take it. I only have one team. So, giving up is not an option. GBO!

I am still a Vol, but I am not feeling positive myself. Sucks, but what happens when you continually having to settle for the ugly woman at the bar while others keep picking up the hotties.

The sad truth is Tennessee is on the verge of losing an entire generation of fans. Some kids will be born into and accept being a TN fan, but so many kids are front runners. It’s why you see so many Bama “fans” TN needs to get its **** together and fast. The fans are out of patience.

I have to say this is probably the least interested I’ve ever been in watching the Vols for the next 3 games. I know we’ve had tough stretches before, but I don’t know that I’ve ever felt we were as mismatched as we could be for the next 3 games. I don’t know if we could pull out a win even if all 3 gave us 6 turnovers each. I will always root for them and will watch what I can, but don’t know if I’ll completely block off the time to sit and watch the entire games.
