I am not going to predict who wins the job next year. Whether it is JG, QD or Sheriron, chances are other two will transfer. No way 4-star guys stay here to be career back-up. What that leaves us with is one 4-star QB, Zack Jancek and some unheralded incoming freshman.
What are your thoughts ? Could two of them stay and only one transfer ? I think highly unlikely.
Do we get a JUCO guy or is there some big name freshman that we are pursuing ?
Could JJ come to rescue if needed ?
That's how Bama kept Barnett...oh wait.
Coached and managed properly... the 3 currently on UT's roster stay. Jones returned understanding that his shot at starting was fairly slim. QD will be a Jr. So if he's not the starter then he'd have to wonder if his chances are better playing it out or starting over somewhere else.
Jones is very unlikely to name a starter in the spring unless it is QD and probably not then either. That means the week before the opening game, QD could find out that he isn't starting.
Would he quit then? If not, the only way he transfers is if he graduates and has a year left.
Dont want Jancek -- his dad always hopes the Vols lose and posts derogatory about it on Twitter
I was surprised Zach didn't transfer. But since he didn't, I am not going to lay the "sins" of the father on the son. It seems a hard enough situation for the young man without the opinions of judgmental jerks making it worse.
I think S. Jones is here to stay...
I read S. Jones the same way. He's home, and knows it. He'll change job before he changes his colors. But IF one of the others transfer, I don't think Sheriron will change job, either. He'll be the #2 guy.
So I'm not worried about our depth. We'll have (I think) Guarantano (but maybe Dormady) starting, Jones backing him up, and Jancek as ostensible 3rd string so the '17 recruit(s) can red-shirt. So...4 or 5 in the stable, about the same as this year.
What happens if we dont sign a QB in 2017? One of JG, SJ or QD transfers? Seems like we would be kind of thin at that point. I guess there is always an outside shot JJ could play a little QB in an emergency situation.
My scenario is on the extreme side and by no means is meant to be taken like it has a high probability of happening. Just asked it for debate sake.
we got all the arms and legs we need...JG stays, Jones stays...QD stays...no one is going to leave
GO VOLS...RUN THE TABLE!

I think if JG wins the opening start, we lose BOTH Dormady and Jones. Shouldn't affect the decision...always pick the best...my concern is that he hasn't completed the last two seasons of high school football. He really needed this year break. We need to sign a promising 2017 signalcaller.
Yep, BOT, you're right. If we didn't sign a QB in '17, and JG or QD transferred, we'd be dangerously thin. Absolutely.
Just not gonna worry about it unless all those conditions come into play. Mainly because I'd be surprised if we didn't recruit at least one (maybe two?) QBs in the '17 signing class. With that, we'd be okay even if a current member of the squad transferred out.
Why is it more important to find a better QB IN 2017 than in either 2018 or 2019? I feel it's way more important for 2018 or 2019 than 2017. That's just me but you said you think both Dormady & Jones is leaving if JG was to win the job.
I could see Dormady transferring but not Jones too. Jones would be the backup to JG plus we have Jancek as a just in case. We're going to sign either Bubba Thompson or Urich at QB for 2017 but in no way are they the future.
