Vols have two first-round picks on defense, Williams and Berry, and another 3-5th round guy in McCoy. How many other teams do you know with two first-round picks on their defense? Maybe Top 20 picks, at that...
As for the depth, every team has injuries at this point of the season -- S. Carolina is down five Def. starters, Ole Miss was missing their best pass rusher, Kentucky is banged up, Florida and Alabama have both lost marquee players.....
No coordinator is perfect, and none always come up with the best plan.
Monte has had a very good season considering this is his first year working with these players and this staff.
I've always said he's a great coordinator -- the only fundamental difference i have is that I have believed EB should be at FS where he can have freedom and teams can't run/throw away from him.
This is just a game that Ole Miss wanted a little more, IMO. It was a hard-hitting quality contest most of the afternoon.
It was good to see the UT offense protect the ball again with no turnovers, and Crompton continues to look sharp....gotta believe Hardesty is hurt.
Next week will be another challenge, and Monte will win more of these with his schemes than he loses. Lane is doing a great job as well, and I think Jim Chaney is a mastermind.
