You seem like you expected us to go from losing to winning all of them overnight. You obviously cannot see improvement as the season went forward. I don't see anybody saying we are elite yet, not many elites out there. We improved, we blew a few early games and many folks predicted us to lose to Miss St, South Carolina and Missouri. Many said before the season that them teams were simply better, well we beat them. We beat all the SEC teams that we were supposed to beat, well at least the ones I thought we would beat. I expect continued improvement as we head into next year. Continue on with you totally negative slant and everything about the season. GBO!Maybe it is just that I am a realist or maybe even a Debbie Downer. However, I have read many posts over the past couple of weeks that seem to have me feeling we are elite again.
The reality of our situation is this:
We are 7-5; not 10-2 or even 9-3 but a seven win team. Those seven wins are against very bad teams with one of those teams (UAB) not having a single impressive win. On top of that, we got beat by Ga State and BYU!
On getting beat by BYU and Ga State as well as who we actually beat, we do not have a coach of the year coach! We, Tennessee fans, are very fond of two of our receivers this year. However, neither are going to win any awards or go in the first round or even the second of the NFL draft!
We had a record setting RB tonight. He set the record against a typical Vandy team with a losing record! In fact, the previous record was set against a Georgia team.
When we have break out, record setting performances against teams who are ranked and we win those games, then COY honors and All-American statuses can be proclaimed.
On to maintaining the Butch standard in beating lesser quality teams at the end of the season and then beating some over ranked Iowa, Nebraska or whichever the over ranked bowl opponent we have!

DUH, it's the eye test. I can see improvement on the field. Most folks can, even the sports analyist on TV see it. Many folks didn't have us beating Miss St, South Carolina or Missouri before the season. That's why most folks said 7-5. We started off terrible lost 2 we shouldn't have, that does not mean that's who we are now. We have improved and we are getting better, we still have a ways to go but we are headed in the right direction. We were picked 5th in the east and came in 3rd, so for many we did beat some conference opponents that were presumed better. If you can't see it, sorry about that. GBO!!!!Everybody is acting like we went 9-3 while beating some good teams.. We went 7-5 beating bad teams and losing to Ga State and BYU.

Yeah you are being a downer.
Those 2 games at the beginning of the season were flukes. We should be a 9 win team this season. It is what it is-if if's and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas.
But what I see is the natural order of things reestablishing in the SEC East. GA lost Chaney, Bama lost Pruitt obviously, their loss our gain. SC, Mizzu, Vandy all back down to the bottom. We are rising and we are rising fast. We are returning our whole O line, have depth across the board really. We just need to land some stud D linemen and continue to stock the shelves. We have kick azz Freshman all over the field, O line, LB, RB. Pruitt knows what he is doing.
BYU should have been a W. So I call it a fluke and not a clear representation of our team. JG should have done better. I held JG responsible for those games primarily. I said bench him after GA state. They didn't. Benching him is what gave him a wake up call. It isn't all on him. GA state def a fluke. I'm glad he turning it around, but it was all mental with him, not physical, a fluke! One of those two early season losses as a fluke. Such as USCe beating Georgia. But two losses, that’s not two flukes.
The not quitting is the biggest difference that I see.I think we beat BYU and Ga state with Bituli in the mix. Does one player make a difference? Ask Nick Saban. We would be 9-3. Yes we played some weaklings, but so did the mighty crimson tide. To say we are elite is foolish. This time last year, the team had quit. That’s not happening now.
