Reality of Our Situation

We beat Auburn last year and they just beat Bama yesterday. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

That win is bigger than most give us credit for in that Saban has never beaten a ranked Auburn team at Jordan-Hare. We/Pruitt has.

The majority felt like this was a 7-5 or 8-4 team at the top. So we pretty much hit the expectation. Would you rather have the GA ST and BYU wins over the SEC wins?
Would have rather won those two and then won the ones we did.

Why stop there?

Why not wish to have won all 12?

I think you're shorting yourself.

Reach for the stars, nega-prince.

clearly you cannot grasp logic, or you are here to troll.. Either way, bravo.

I’m sure that everyone would wish that their wishes came true however, I never said anything about wishes.

It's the logic, then?

Ok.

You said you'd rather have won those two and then the ones we did at the end. That's the same as saying you wished we would've win those first two.

I never said that.

Even if I had, there is no way to deduce “wish” from it.

What it's the point of this drivel?
There isn’t any. This person cannot see the forests for their eyelids. You mistake enthusiasm and acknowledging very obvious improvement with being brain dead. Almost everyone on this site knows we have a ways to go. Some on here, the poster included, continually look for ways to be critical of the team. Contrary to their statement, that is not being a “realist”.

I'm not going to wast time doing research for you but the board is littered with posts stating that the first two games of the season were flukes and that we'd win both of those games if played today. There are also plenty who have opined that the losses were the wake-up call the team in general and JG in particular needed, thereby paving the way to 5 conference wins. It's all hogwash and revisionism.

Weak.... if you put it out there you need to back it up...

Maybe it is just that I am a realist or maybe even a Debbie Downer. However, I have read many posts over the past couple of weeks that seem to have me feeling we are elite again.

The reality of our situation is this:

We are 7-5; not 10-2 or even 9-3 but a seven win team. Those seven wins are against very bad teams with one of those teams (UAB) not having a single impressive win. On top of that, we got beat by Ga State and BYU!

On getting beat by BYU and Ga State as well as who we actually beat, we do not have a coach of the year coach! We, Tennessee fans, are very fond of two of our receivers this year. However, neither are going to win any awards or go in the first round or even the second of the NFL draft!

We had a record setting RB tonight. He set the record against a typical Vandy team with a losing record! In fact, the previous record was set against a Georgia team.

When we have break out, record setting performances against teams who are ranked and we win those games, then COY honors and All-American statuses can be proclaimed.

On to maintaining the Butch standard in beating lesser quality teams at the end of the season and then beating some over ranked Iowa, Nebraska or whichever the over ranked bowl opponent we have!
I would say that we "should" be either 9-3 or 8-4 given the way we finished the season. Given that, your post is still accurate in that we really didn't beat anyone of note and didn't beat anyone convincingly other than UAB. I am one that doesn't want to see a highly ranked team in a bowl because I don't want this team to finish with their tails between their legs at the end of the season.

Who cares? Its just an opinion. I absolutely believe we beat both GaSt and BYU if we played them right now. We'll never know, so my opinion ain't worth any more than his.

It could be hogwash, but it also makes sense that those losses were part of a wake up call. Who knows. With something like this, my opinion is just as much a pile of crap as his.
