Realistically Dooley gets 4 years

Why is that. I believe he will do better than that. But the seniors next year is Kiffin's only class. What's left of them. Guess that's Dooley fault too.

Please stop with this. The excuse making has to end at some point and next year there shouldn't be any.

to be honest,i think Dooley needs 4 yrs from the end of this season,to get his players in and get them coached up the way he wants,he is pulling in a lot of very good recruits,i hate to say it,but there is just a overall lack of talent right now and it is going to take a long time to get over it and i see no reason for any coaching changes for at least another yr or 2 either, they all have the same problem with talent or lack of,this is just my 2 cents worth

Go Vols

We will have most of the offense coming back as juniors. The defense will mainly consist of juniors and a few sophomores. Excuse time is over, just win baby.

The Gators went 0-4 in the month of October like the Vols, which coach has more depth and overall talent? The Gators lost to Bama, Lsu, Auburn and GA, we lost to 3 out of 4 and swapped Auburn for USCjr. Dooley has less to work with and given time we can at least have some depth, our second half woes can be blamed on a lot of things but lack of depth is probably the biggest factor, and when you factor in the injuries on an already thin team it just stands out even more.

Not to get carried away with this, but I would like to see Hart hire Mike Leach. I know I know, he is a bit on the quirky side but Tennessee was closer than most people think to hiring him in 2009. Tennessee came calling, according to Leach, but he was not willing to risk his championship run at TTech. We hire Kiffin, and the rest is history. His innovation is what we need. By Dooley's "four year mark", the roster should be somewhat manageable and the cubbard will not be nearly as bare as to when Derek took it over.

That would be the fair thing to do, sometimes life isn't fair though. I can't see a scenario where he gets less than 4 years unless the wheels completely come off next year. All signs point to next year being at least minimally better than this year. So he'll more than likely get that 4th year. All the Dooley haters probably need to take a break , it's going to be a while guys.

I'll say they're going to have to get the running game fixed. From Bray getting them into the right run play to actually blocking and having a runningback worth a damn. Not going to beat teams in this conference without one.

I say he has to earn year 4 with his performance year 3. He has had some injuries and general bad luck but you don't let a program like Tennessee go with maybe 6 wins for 3-4 years straight. Regardless the coach

I actually like Derek Dooley. I hope he is madly successful here and retires a Tennessee Vol. I am just saying IF UT makes a change in a few years, I would like to see them go after M. Leach.

We're halfway there Vol Nation.

For me, the jury is still out on Dooley, even through all the turmoil. I have been as frustrated as anyone with the team's performance this year and even compared Dooley to former Alabama coach Mike Shula, which in hindsight was wrong of me. I admit, Dooley does deserve some time.

Realistically I think he should have 4 years. By his fourth year Bray's class will be seniors and their progress can be correctly evaluated. After that if he is still mediocre then its time for him to go. Next year he better win some big games. I'm not expecting a 12 win or even 10 win season but he better win some big games in October.

A wise man once said "You have to survive the hard times to really enjoy the good times"

For now, I think we need to stand behind our team, give them encouragement and let them know we have confidence in them. One of these days they will get it right! Have some faith.

Go Big Orange!

I am not attempting to rationalize the teams peformance BUT... (1) Had the situation gone differently at LSU, we would have had a 7th win last season. That was not Dooley's fault. The ref's or the D Coordinator, maybe, but not Dooley's.
(2) Had the situation gone differently in the bowl game, we would have had our 8th win for the season. That was clearly the ref's fault, not Dooleys' fault.
(3) Had Lather's, Jantzen, Bray & Hunter's situations
been different, we would have beaten UGA, USC and possibly Florida. Our record would now be 5 wins or 6 wins with a Florida victory.
(4) Had Dooley made some bone headed calls or had some poor game planning or had he been out coached, then I would tend to say that he is part to blame. As it is though, I can't say that he is to blame.

I think Jeff Weinberger is an idiot 95% of the time, but he brings up a good point. AD's want to make their own hire. As bad as I think Dooley deserves time, he may on the short stick.

he'll get minimum 5 years and I'd give him 6.....place is a mess....

Also Hart would make that call, and I'll wager Dooley is part of the reason Hart was hired...and Hart while it's true he went Alabama, is clearly not the idiot Hamilton was or many who post here.

We need stability to recruit......other wise we get two decades of the idiocy that was Alabama trying to replace the Bear.

Besides all of that, Tn doesn't have the budget to recruit anyone bigger as head coach...and not many bigger want to join a program now known to have played Caeser gets stabbed in the quad mid season with the coach who won them a NC title, and gave 25 plus years.....everyone knows that what a program does to it's own they'll do worse to an outsider. We lost some serious respect by alot of coaches by the way that was handled.

About the trying to replace Bryant. Didn't they win a NC with Stallings in the early nineties?

If, had, if, had, if, had, if, had, if, had....

Starting to notice a trend from not only Dooley himself, but also the ones who have already begun the blueprints for his statue outside Neyland. We heard all of these "ifs" last year in regards to LSU and NC, and hearing them again this year. Eventually, those have to stop.

I like CDD and hope he is here his entire career, but damn, getting tired of hearing all of that. If Bray didn't get hurt....how about you work on a running game so he doesn't have to throw it 60 times a game! There is no excuse that a future NFL quarterback takes snaps with supposedly 2 NFL WR's, and we can't get to the LOS. That's BS.

The W's and L's will be important next year, but what I think is more important is that we have to see something. He's going to return a lot of starters, a lot. Does the O-Line quit being pansies and hit someone? Can the D-Line get to the QB? Can the secondary lock down receivers? CAN WE PUNT THE BALL MORE THAN 30 YARDS?

Yes, I want to see wins, but more importantly I want to see improvement. If there is no improvement, again, it's time to look elsewhere because that is a fundamental issue.

That is what we should have been hoping for this year. Next year, it's time for results.

Barring a bus accident or something like that...UT will have at least 9 wins next year.

Bama will be loaded again next year---they will be hard to beat. Fla and Ga are beatable. They both should be average in 2012.

Well IMO I believe he has to produce next season or its bye bye...No less than 8 wins or its time to move on..He has a lot of returning starters next season....Should be no excuses.

For those of you that want DD gone now, you know the mental midgets, just who do you think is a realistic replacement? Who is this big name coach that is going to ride into town and save this program after train wreck part duex? What big name coach or up and commer is going to put his rep on the line and take the risk with a school that fires a coach after two years? The answer NO ONE!

Let's not even think about paying this imaginary savior, what would it take to get this guy, 5 mil, 6 mil? That's alot of $$ on top of the buy out we are still paying CPF and would be paying DD. Come on smart guys, your the AD give us your answers. Can't wait to hear this....
