Realistic expectations for H. Bailey (Merged)

Don’t remember contending that Arik Gilbert OR BJ Ojulari OR White OR any key members of the team having no effect. Talented teams have been known to finish short if the quarterback doesn’t do his part tho. So when he does WEEK AFTER WEEK it would be nice (for a change) to not have it downplayed. Might be too much to ask of you but it would be nice.

I agree Marietta has some very good players, but a great receiver can't be a great receiver if the qb can't get him the ball. On the other side the receivers help the qb perform better because they do catch it when thrown to them. So they are all helping each other to be and look better. Football is still a team sport. It took the team playing as a team to be state champs, just as it does in all team sports.

No disagreement. Nice balanced post.

I will be ok with whoever wins out to start, I think we have some good qb on the roster, hate to lose any of them. I trust coaching staff to play the one they think is best. Go Vols
Well right now..... that’s JG as of week 1. The problem is at some point they’re going to have make a decision on who to roll with going forward and at what point they make that decision means the world for the future. By playing JG next season it’s taking valuable reps from whichever one they think has the highest upside for 2021.

There’s no throwaway season in college football...or a two year plan. If JG is the best chance to win, he should play. Reps are never as valuable as a win.

I understand that but it doesn’t matter the level. Rookies get better over time and with the support of their coaches. Just look at Peytons first year with Indianapolis. He set the world on fire in negative stat lines but his coaches knew what they were doing sticking with him. The results speak for themselves.

You’re comparing the NFL to college. Shows we’re not in the same conversation. Peyton was a rookie but also clearly better than an on his last legs Jim Harbaugh. . And that was a 10-15 year plan. In college you don’t wait to win.

Realistic expectations:

After Oklahoma game around 75% of the football geniuses on this forum call for him to be the starter.

After Pruit doesn’t play HB, 50% of forum calls for Pruit’s job.

HB plays and makes some freshman mistakes and 50% of the talent experts on this forum call him a bust and say we should’ve passed on him.

Ok. Let’s talk college then. How much better was Peytons sophomore season in comparison to his freshman season? Then junior season compared to sophomore. 😕

Overall the point is JP had an opportunity to move on from JG when expectations were low. Instead he chose to go with the experience of JG vs the upside of either freshman that had 4 years left to play.

His job as HC is to put us in the best position to WIN. Not develop QBs in hopes of future wins...you’re getting his responsibilities mixed up with a QUARTERBACK COACH. Easy and understandable error on your part. 😉

Play it down but you’re not a Vols fan past Maurer’s eligibility...if you even qualify presently. My “reasons” are lifelong and familial ...yours are situational and temporary.
lol.

Yep. You're a true fan because you wore some Vols diapers and had a second cousin go to UT.

Cloth diapers (it was the 70’s) and it was a niece who’s really not into football. Not surprised that you’re mocking me, lol pimp.

Judging by the wink I’m assuming you meant that sarcastically but you may be correct on that one. Valid point
