Realistic expectations for H. Bailey (Merged)

9 INTs is relative. If he threw 100 passes, sure it’s a lot. But he had 392 pass attempts this year. Makes it not a lot. At all. Thus, the really low INT rate.

As for downfield throws, analysts are pretty even across the board stating he is very accurate downfield and throws a great deep ball. His only knock coming into this season was he was too stationary in the pocket. He appears to have worked on that and extended plays better this season. That’s why he’s now being talked about as possibly getting bumped to a 5 star.

Either way, we won’t know what we got until he steps on campus and competes at this level. So I’m with you, I’m hoping he balls out.
Maybe he makes 5 star on Rivals and 247 but ESPN only has him as the 17th rated pro style Qb in the nation. ESPN recruiting has no credibility.

VOLS will be undefeated going into the Bama game. JG will start and play well to that point. CJP will insert HB at half time. VOLS will comeback and win. HB will start the rest of the year. We will play Bama again in the SECCG and beat them AGAIN!!!

I think they can move up or down depending on recruiting services updates until NSD in February.
That could be true. Idk. I just heard that once you sign you’re no longer a recruit and therefore lock in the rating you signed as. Made sense to me

In the recruiting forum I think there was a discussion about HB hopefully being moved up to a 5 ⭐️ in their next update; therefore, I do believe there is still movement up until NSD and then it is locked.

Bartender? Yeah, I’ll have some of what he’s having. 😂

It wasn't. Jerry Colquitt was the undisputed starter on day one in Peyton's first year.
But they knew what they had coming in. Helton was also in the mix as number 2 but how did that turn out. But your right No one expected Peyton to be starting so early.

If you sit him two years, he'll be playing for someone else in year two. I've watched him 2 years now while living in Dville, GA. Has the build and arm of Peyton with the head of Casey. He'll be playing starting QB on The Hill next year before the season is out IMO. He IS needed right away, our best QB returning as an upper classman literally took a potential win over Bama out of this team's hands, lost to BYU and Ga State and played well only in spurts down the stretch.
I hope he's got a head a lot better than Casey. That guy was a DA.

So is Terry Bradshaw. Clausen could never break down an opposing defense like Peyton, but he had an unparalleled clutch factor which has to stem from the brain. Have always believed that if he hadn’t injured his shoulder before his freshman season that he would have played in the NFL. Arrived on campus and Joey Matthews was the undisputed starter. Wrested that away from him rather quickly and it was reported that his arm was “next level” before he had to sit out for a “tired arm.” When he returned during the season he could never make ALL of the throws you need to make at the next level, but he got the most out of what he had left and had an admirable college career.

Bailey is going to break NCAA career records for passing yards, touchdowns, completion percentage, and fewest interceptions all within his first season.

Same for maurer imo. Hope all stay, improve and best qb plays whoever it is. I don't know much about Holiday, but man if he can pass, we would have a true duel threat qb, which is what you need in todays college football. Things have changed in football in recent years. Duel qb is the way to go. Just look at the playoff teams this year, all duel threat. And also watch Texas A&M they got a good one. Jimbo knows what type of qb to go after, they will be in contention for sec in two years barring injury. We can too with a good qb, whoever it is.

Only because the internet wasn't developed enough for VN.com yet. We put the 'dispute' in 'undisputed starter'.

If we'd been gathered like this back then, every single QB on the roster with zero playing time would be the Next Coming of Johnny Majors, and every QB with live game snaps would be both The Answer and simultaneously A Lousy Bum.

Cause that's how we roll. :)

And there was a lot of clamoring for Stewart to get the call over Manning. Stewart had this uncanny tendency to fumble the first snap almost every time he went into the game. He almost always followed it up with a first down achieving pass, though. If he had gotten that first nap jitters under control, who knows what he could have achieved

Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow do not meet the definition of dual threats...they’re not statues, but just north.

What I remember about Casey Clausen is that he had great success Late in games in a hurry up offense in which he went into automatic throw to the primary receiver. I'm not sure I ever saw him even once do a check down throw to a secondary receiver. Another thing is he never understood what a pocket was. Back then we had very good offensive lines, but as soon as the pocket started developing, he would panic and start trying to find a way to escape. Of course with his lack of athletic ability he never did. I guess I was just spoiled with Peyton and Andy Kelly before him of having quarterbacks that could figure out on the fly what to do under duress. Peyton's one biggest albatross was that he could not figure out what to do with Widey Woodenhoffer's defenses.

I may be wrong but after both Colquitt and Helton went down I don't recall Stewart getting a lot of playing time. He transferred out the following year, right?

In the first couple of games, Peyton and Stewart we're basically splitting time, as I recall. Peyton would play 2 series, and then Stewart would play 2 series. Very much like what the playing splitwise between Ainge and Shaeffer. That's apparently how Fulmer liked to run a QB competition.

Peyton locked down the starting job with his performance against Mississippi State (albeit a loss), and never looked back. Cue writing on the wall and transfer to the best option in his home state.
