Real OC would have us in I Formation with these players

We have a Power back who hasn't gotten the ball on a power run all year. 😑. OLine does handicap play calling but the system were in handicaps everything.

Oklahoma has a true freshman power back who is tearing it up in basically the same system as ours. The difference is they have talent and experience on the OL. Don't you remember how good our running game was last year with a solid OL and a below average RB in Raijon's Neal?

It was the best in a decade of UT football despite no real threat in the passing game. The problem isn't the scheme, it's the horrendous OL with no depth.

I understand it's the OLine, but at the end of the day adjustments have to be made. we can't keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

I can only wonder how many wins this team have if we were not running a read option but instead we were running an I formation with a FB blocking for Hurd?

I honestly think we would have beat Florida and maybe GA.

This read option stuff with a QB who never runs is crap.

Worley holds the ball for 5 seconds before he even hands it to Hurd.

Hurd is not a quick foot RB. He needs a few steps to get up to speed due to his size. We are using him wrong.

Put a FB in front off him and power the ball.

Just a total crap scheme right now.

And when it's fourth down use the damn Beast package...it was the only thing Dooley ever did right.

Hell, the OM coach gets it. When it was 4th and 1 he pulled BO and brought in freaking Refrigerator Perry.

I can only wonder what would have happened if we didn't have 8 fumbles lost for the season and thrown 8 interceptions for the season.

Statistically, the team with the fewest turn overs wins the game. Look at the Maxims!!!!

In each game that we have lost, we have more turn overs than the opponent. Few teams can win with that stat!!!!

Again, it is not that much difference that seperates us winning and losing. Just a few turn overs and a stronger more experienced O - Line.

Exactly! And last years OLine probably didn't have the scheme fully learned!

When you have depth at OLine, they block like bosses with this scheme because 2nd and 3rd string learn it constantly so that they're always ready.

Then there will be holes. And there will be scores.

It would help if fans would stop trying tear down the ****ing bricks that CBJ builds up though

What adjustments can you make to fix the offense when your 5 OL can't block a three man defensive front?

What ever we are doing it sure as heck isnt working, so find something that does. They are paid a lot of money to find something that works. SO FIND IT!

It's truly amazing to see all of these coaches on here who know more than Coach Jones, yet they have never had a job coaching football, and maybe never even played. You complain about the triple reverse yet, just last week you said we have to run something else, trick plays, etc. I agree it wasn't the best call when they were actually moving the ball,but........Jones is the coach and will be for a long time. And when they finish this year in a bowl game and next year begin to dismantle team themselves, don't pretend to be a fan. Now, go ahead, flame me, I'll forgive you, you are probably drunk or high or perhaps just delusional.

I was thinking the same thing. Experts, yet they're at home on the computer instead of on a field! Mind boggling!

When we do line up in the I, the defense knows what's coming. Most likely a 3 yard loss on a run up the gut.

I'd like to see playaction out of the I on a 4th and inches to Wolf out in the flat, it may not catch Bama by surprise but would shock the hell out of me.

Our current offense will one day be fun to watch, but right now it's so predictable.

So you jus keep doing the same things that aren't working and not even try to adjust? that basically what you're saying

No, I'm saying that isn't some magic adjustment that will improve the offense. Whatever we do it try, we're going to have a terrible OL. There's no play we can call or adjustment we can make that will make those guys more talented.

It's like our defense last year: it's a talent problem, not a scheme problem.

Answering a question with ANOTHER question is not very good . Besides your fullback I formation Bull Crap . What is your end game .

I wish more fans would educate themselves better before posting and ranting...suggesting "this" coach be fired, or "that" coach "must go", or Butch is not the answer! Get real. As a whole this team "IS" making progress. I'm amazed at how irrational fans can be...getting all bent out of shape because we can't beat to "compete" with the #3 team in the country. Next week will be no different. People....there's A LOT of difference between Ole Miss's (and Bama's) roster compared to ours. Ours is looking a lot better than it has...but there are still some missing pieces that aren't on campus yet. Be patient (or jump ship)...in a couple of years (or sooner) this team will make some noise! Trust the process.

Brother, I have no idea what you are refering to here. All of the VN coaching fraternity are well versed in football. We all know exactly what the solutions are to the problems of the team for every position. If 10,000 VN coaches posted the solution, we would have 10,000 different correct answers. The only coach that is wrong is CBJ. IT IS REALLY STUPID FOR THE UNIVERSITY TO PAY CBJ ALL THAT MONEY WHEN THEY COULD HAVE ALL THE VN EXPERT ADVISE FOR FREE.

Yes in reality it is a long and painful process we are going to have to endure. Blame it on Hammy, Lane, Dooofus or all of the above, but it is what it is. We will have to be patient, no matter how much we want it to happen overnight it wont. It takes time to rebuild a house destroyed by neglect, and our football program was neglected for about the last 8 years before CBJ arrived. I was born a Vol and I will die a Vol, Vol for Life here no bandwagon fan.
