I agree, OP. It's funny how so many think this game is not going to be close. Respect your opponent, and have class. I congratulate Indiana on a good season, and look forward to a great game in the Gator Bowl.
we "barely" beat Vanderbilt by 3 TDs lol...please we are going to wipe the field with the HoosiersDo we have to go through this again..???
All these ridiculous forecasts of 50 point blowouts, or "how many TD's will we beat them by".
Can we have a little reality if you please. ..??
We BARELY got past Vanderbilt for Christ's sake.
Eric Gray had an enormous game. Nobody should be basing their estimate of TEAM strength on 2 runs by Eric. Without his 56 yd TD run and the spectacular 94 yd breakaway for another TD...Tennessee's running game produced essentially the SAME yardage as Vandy's. I don't think we should be basing our predictions on a historic performance by one player.
Time of possession...a 3 minute advantage.... FOR VANDY.
First downs...Advantage: VANDY ( by 2)
Turnovers: Advantage VANDY.
Please STOP with the "WGWTFA" talk. I'm 100% GBO....and our team has time to prepare, but NO time for a bunch of ridiculous "Hype" about how awesome they are. They held off Vanderbilt. Denied them scoring opportunities and WON, but by NO means did the Vols "blowout", or "overpower" the Commodores.
Satterfield has done a great job there this season....I think they'll beat MSU.The B10 teams follow a set schedule of 6 division games and a rotation of 3 from the other division. At times, that can certainly make for a tougher season but every few years, the stars align and there's a team in the B10 with a cakewalk lineup. Obviously teams can trend up or down over time but this year, IU managed to win that scheduling lottery since their B10 West match-ups were Purdue, Nebraska, and Northwestern; the 3 WORST teams in the that division. They avoided ranked Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota.
They did have to play 3 ranked teams in OSU, PSU, and UM but the rest of the East division was pretty bad. Illinois was surprisingly not awful but Mich St, Rutgers, and Maryland were pretty much garbage. Add in a couple out of conference lay-ups and they basically played and lost to 3 good teams. I'm pretty sure UT would also lose to OSU, Penn St, and Michigan as well but we had some solid teams in the middle with only UTC and Vandy being essentially crap.
I like UT's odds against IU better than if we had played Louisville. Satterfield is an outstanding coach and UL has some good team speed. What has helped UT in the past against the B10 is speed. Those cornfed boys (OSU exempted) are slow. I think we simply match up better against IU and will hopefully have the edge in athleticism. I trust CJP to scheme well enough to stymie their passing attack and UT wins by 10-14 points.
Penix isn't playing. Per a Hoosier fan, their current QB couldn't hit water from a boat.Indiana is better than people realize. At the very least, they are much better than Louisville.
Their QB, a former UT commit, Michael Penix has been good for them all season.
In terms of our opponents, they are probably of similar quality as BYU and Kentucky, two teams we struggled with (and only 1 of which we beat).
So the weather takes our greatest advantage, and we run the ball down Vandys throat after our terrible start. Beat them by 3 scores... without them ever threatening to make it a game and we didn’t overpower them? Andy didn’t have a chance and in good weather we would have thrown 3 more touchdowns on those clowns.Do we have to go through this again..???
