Rawane Ndiaye Reportedly commits

What big man in April is available, that we would have a legitimate shot at? The few that we're are JUCOs who have been getting recruited by schools for 6 months, from what I gather this recruitment stated about 2 weeks ago.

How about sam edwards from Memphis?

Several 3 star big men still unsigned.

By the way- Yemi was a 3 star prospect this guy is a 0 star!!

Sam Edwards was someone we looked into...he apparently won't be qualifying academically though, so probably the reason we didn't go after him like you're saying we should've.

Where'd you find Ndiaye stats from his senior year?

Rawane Ndiaye, a 6-10 player from Raleigh, averaged 10.3 points and 8.7 rebounds and signed with Western Carolina.

That was at Body of Christ Christian Academy, a tiny school with a 1st-year basketball program.

As a junior at Woodrow Wilson HS, Ndiaye averaged 1.8 rebounds per game. He was not among the team's top 10 scorers and their No. 10 scorer averaged 1.6 points per game.

Sam Edwards is not a major college player. He would not start for most high schools.

So when you asked if I thought he could compete for conference championships, did you mean recruiting championships? I assumed you meant the conference standings that are decided on the court by W-L...if that's what you're asking, he finished 2nd in the SEC and 5th in the SEC in the standings (decided by W-L on the court) his first two years...so yes, I'm thinking since we finished top 5 in the SEC his first 2 years, we likely will continue to compete going forward.

Am I missing something?

It seems we carry different expectations for the program. If you consider finishing top 5 in a very poor conference any sort of accomplishment than I am afraid we will continue to disagree. And much more so than football, the correlation between recruiting and results is well proven. Consider me negative if you will but to me CCM has proven very little recruiting or coaching wise.

If you expect us to recruit like UK that's your fault...reports are that he was drawing interst from other SEC schools fwiw. I'm willing to at least see the guy play before I bash him. If reports are accurate that he's taking Yemi's spot what's the freak out for, we desperately need a big.

Where did Yemi go?

I think I see what Cuonzo was thinking, guys: When we play Lights Out next year, we'll need someone tall enough to change the light bulbs.

Why are so many people pointing to the points category? I completely understand looking at rebounds and blocks, but whether we had Ndaiye or Yemy on the roster next season, both will be asked to perform the same role. IMO there will be a negligible difference. If we were asking either one of them to be scoring the ball of anything other than rebound-putbacks, then our issues are much worse than who is asked to fill that role. We should have more scorers next season after adding Hubbs into the mix. We will be asking Stokes, Golden, McRae, Hubbs, and Maymon to be providing the points. My guess is that Richardson will be asked to score the ball more. IMO either Richardson, McRae, or most likely Hubbs will be asked to be our 6th man and provide instant offense when they are on the court.

To add to my point, a very integral part of my fantasy basketball team down the stretch was Reggie Evans and his stat line is usually over 15 rpg, but less than 5ppg. He fills a role my team needs though, and that is exactly what this Ndaiye/Yemi can do... in a much lower degree obviously.

The closest comparison I can think of to show me that I should believe in CCM's decision is Derek Reese. In spots, when we needed him to pick up minutes, he was much more effective than I expected him to be. If he can become a better defender, he can be a powerful stretch 4 in a reserve role, opening up the paint for slashing wings.

 You must have low expectations.

Funny you forgot to mention finishing second his first year. We don't live in a vacuum, and Martin didn't quite inherit an experienced roster. That has only been debated a million times. Do I want to see better? Yes but it hasn't been as bad as some want to make it out to be.
