A 2 year recruit. Play ready and fits our system better than the up tempo game he was playing in.

Except the current TN roster seems way more adept at up tempo than whatever variation of the Purdue "system" Cuonzo is trying to install. That's why Yemi lost his minutes. So now Cuonzo brings in a less skilled version of Yemi?

If he's trying to fit a round peg roster into a square hole system, that isn't going to work.

Do you think CCM forced yemi out for this guy? I see it as yemi told him he's leaving and this is who they replace him with.

lol ok. we'll see how ready he is
Wouldn't that make more sense than completely dumping on a guy you know nothing about?
He's replacing a guy that averaged 7 minutes ,1.68 pts and 2.43 rebounds.
Just the extra height weight and wing span is an upgrade.
He'll be ready to do what's asked.

I remember the PG talk, ive said it along with many...I just don't remember anyone making a stink about needing to add a big, until now.

Bleed - I think a lot of ppl are surprised by the Yemi leaving the team story. I for one didn't see that. What's the real reason behind his leaving and I assume CCM has tried to get him to stay? Calling it a swap by numbers may be correct, but you have a guy like Yemi that knows CCM system and a new guy that will have to learn it over a period of time. Not an even swap in this case.

Doesn't matter if he forced him out or not. He's still replacing a guy who wasn't effective in the "system" with a less-skilled version of the same guy. If you have a bunch of guys who are more effective in an open court game, you get a mobile guy - like Chism - to be your center. I realize Wayne Chism's aren't around for schools like Tennessee in the Spring, but if you can't find a guy with mobility, just pass and move on to the 2014 class.

It isn't confirmed Yemi is leaving, but it seems to be, so assuming he is...I have no clue as to the reason seems to be yemis idea not CCM though. My guess would be PT, but that's purely a guess. I get what you're saying about learning a system, however all Yemi was asked to do was rebound and defend, and probably foul...I have faith this guy can do that. What he may be behind in knowledge, he may gain in the length he has over Yemi, can't teach length. Also, Yemi's language barrier caused some slow learning issues, I don't know if this guy is as bad in that area, but if he understands an grasps things quicker he could probably reach Yemis level of knowledge real quick.

I don't think they could afford to pass...as I've said they HAD to replace Yemi if he's leaving...this guy may leave next year, but we had to add someone if Yemi rumors are true.

That extra height and wing span averaged 2 points a game. There is no upgrade, just a waste of a scholarship.

He's not less skilled than Yemi.
Actually has a leg up as far as experience.
Doubt you'll ever see real up tempo under Martin.
Went from 61 to 66 poss per game this season. that's about as up tempo as it's going to get.

14-15 but still not really enough this yr

I think it's plenty this year...you have 2 centers and 3 guys who can play the 4, and actually 4 if you count Q.

As for 14-15, that obviously depends on Stokes. If he returns you have 2 centers again, and 2 guys who play the 4...probably look to add a center and forward in that class.

According to what metric or site? From where I am sitting he has recruited Stokes, who I believe was coming regardless, Hubbs and a relative pu pu platter. After next year we are going to be gash.

We finished 2nd and 5th in the SEC standing, w-l in conference...you asked if I thought he could have us competing for conference championships, going off his first 2 years it would appear the answer is yes, no?

Once again, based on what? He has yet to land a top 25 class according to rivals. In 2013 Kentucky, Florida, LSU, Arkansas, Missouri and Alabama were able to do so. Perhaps you have a personal rankings system you subscribe to?

You may have different info than me, but what would lead you to believe this guy is more skilled than Yemi? Yemi had higher FG and FT percentages and blocked more shots in the SEC than this guy did in JUCO.

Not arguing Yemi is super skilled, but the best argument for Ndiaye appears to be, "he's taller."

So when you asked if I thought he could compete for conference championships, did you mean recruiting championships? I assumed you meant the conference standings that are decided on the court by W-L...if that's what you're asking, he finished 2nd in the SEC and 5th in the SEC in the standings (decided by W-L on the court) his first two years...so yes, I'm thinking since we finished top 5 in the SEC his first 2 years, we likely will continue to compete going forward.

Am I missing something?

The thing you could be missing is that the top 5 SEC finishes have been powered mainly by recruits from the previous regime. When you have a team composed entirely of CCM recruits, that very well could change for the worse.

That's why the 2014 class is so crucial and continuing to toss scholarships at projects can be a little frustrating to some.

It could, but we don't know. A team with Hubbs, Richardson and Stokes has its big 3 doesn't look to shabby. All we have to go off of is his track record, and as of now he's got te 3rd best winning % in the SEC in the last 2 years, so it looks like we will compete.
