Just to play devil's advocate....on what basis would JG be ahead of Franks?
Good list and analysis. My main disagreement would be that Feleipe Franks is too high and Jake Bentley is too low. Right now, I'd probably go:
1. Tua
2. Fromm
3. Bryant
4. Bentley
5. Mond
6. JG
7. Burrow
8. Franks
4 - 8 are pretty close IMO. There's a dropoff after that. And admittedly, I don't know much of anything about Auburn's new QB.
Kentucky's Wilson is basically a Running Back masquerading as a QB; without Benny Snell, I could see his weaknesses being exposed more.
Bentley started off last season rough, but got much better as the season went along. Consistency is a huge issue for him, but when he's good, he's arguably in the top 3 in the SEC; problem is that when he's bad, he probably drops into the bottom half of the SEC.
Yards per attempt, completion percentage, and INTs-per-Attempt. Moreover, their QB ratings are almost identical.
You can make an argument for Franks over JG, but acting like Franks is clearly ahead is nonsense. Franks had a much better supporting cast and one of the best QB gurus in college football coaching him and his stats were virtually identical to JG's, who was behind the worst O-line in the P5 and oftentimes had no running game whatsoever. You switch the position of JG and Franks, JG puts up much better numbers on that Florida team, while Franks looks terrible playing behind UT's O-line (and without Dan Mullen).
So I'd take JG over Franks, but like I said earlier, I think the QBs in the 4-8 range (Bentley, JG, Franks, Burrow, Mond) are pretty similar in terms of quality. However, it's much easier to make a strong argument for JG over Franks than vice-verse IMO.
Not exactly what I said... but not surprising that you would say something completely untrue... and believe it with all your heart. Not is it surprising that you would deny that that ranking was primarily of JG.Sorry that was @sjt18
“JG has been terrible by any...”Acting like JG is clearly better than Franks is also nonsense. That's the point I'm making.
JG has been terrible by any way there is possible to measure a QB.
Like Franks, the lack of interceptions are not due to good QB play, it's due to what they run. You don't throw interceptions on bubble screens and pop flys down the side line.
Tennessee ran it 419 times last season and threw it 297. That statistic is amazing because (1) Tennessee couldn't run the ball a lick and was last in the SEC in yards per rushing attempt and (2) Tennessee was usually behind on the scoreboard.
In games against West Virginia, Missouri, Florida, Alabama, and Georgia (games they lost by 3 or more TD's), they still ran it more than they threw it. Some of those games the run/pass ratio wasn't close. The only game they were beaten soundly that they threw it more than they ran it was Vanderbilt.
Now, if you are losing big, why run the football when you are terrible at it?
Even 99gator gets it.Acting like JG is clearly better than Franks is also nonsense. That's the point I'm making.

This is objectively false. You’re either being hyperbolic or intellectually dishonest. You choose.
