I'll never for the life of me figure out how Manning > Martin..

He took the same team Manning had and did 2 things Manning failed at: Beating Florida and winning a title.

He is a vastly superior quarterback who was expected to beat Florida by himself. I hate hypothetical situations, but I'd wager if UT came into Peyton's Florida games with the same strategy they had in 1998 with Tee, Peyton would be in the discussion for best college QB in history on any team. He is certainly among the best in NFL history. Those 90s Vol teams should have pounded the Gators into the ground. Why didn't they? Spurrier >>>>>>> Fulmer.

the best in order in my opinion:
1.Peyton Manning
2.Heath Shuler
3.Condredge Holloway
4.Andy Kelly
5.Tony Robinson

My pappaw said three things about Condredge Holloway and this is basically why I have him so high:

1) He made way for mobile QB's to succeed. In the SEC, all of a sudden it was okay to have a guy who had good legs.

2) Had the racial stereotype that black players couldn't play QB not been around, Condredge would have played in the NFL.

3) He helped make the case that black QB's could be highly successful at the college level, leading to more black QB's getting there chance. He wasn't the only guy, but he helped.

And he was a pretty damn good QB. He didn't have a great team, but still was good.

lol Of course, you guys bring up NFL achievements in a discussion about college QBs. That's real smart.

You also blame coaching for Peyton's failures..but credit a good deal of Martin's success to coaching..Hmm..Seeing as Fulmer/Cutcliffe/Sanders were Manning and Martin's coaches..that sounds kinda like a moronic statement to me.

Of course Manning has more records here..he played 4 years. Martin played 2.

Martin took a less experienced team(they lost players from Manning's team), and beat Florida and won a title. Manning choked in big games..there's no way around that.

I just love how you guys blame the team around Manning(coaches included), but credit the team around Martin(coaches included), despite Martin having a less experienced team.

Manning was good..but he's extremely overrated. He didn't do anything more than what Casey Clausen did..put up similar numbers and neither could get us a title.

They are probably smart enough to understand that Peyton Manning was far better. Greg Mcelroy is the best qb in the country by your standards

Disagree with number 3. All of Al Wilson's success at quarterback was because he had great receivers like David Leaverton, Billy Ratliff, and Chad Clifton.

Could not agree more. The one touchdown pass he threw to Marcus Nash was classic. And Jeff Hall ran one back for a touchdown that same game. What a classic Qb.

How many fumbles did Al cause in the Florida game?
When he was hurt he was on the sidelines cheering his team on and keeping them motivated. No he wouldn't behind the center but he was the leader on the team and nobody questioned him. Without Al, we would not have won a NC. Therefore he deserves the credit.

So that makes him the third best QB at UT? Brilliant.
