RANK SEC FOOTBALL COACHES (Merged)

And Brooks? I'd rather have a successful position coach who has already recruited well, than a coach who has never won with any consistency.

Like I said, I was not trying to make a huge deal of it either way. Brooks did beat Orgeron on the field.

Fulmer, just to be honest, is about the last guy I want in a big game for all the marbles. That's not a shot, but just an observation. Take out the horseshoe year and what do you have? A bunch of really talented teams that didn't win anything.

That sums up my feelings. 5-10 against top 10 teams at home since 2000 confirms it, along with two SEC CG losses (Auburn was better but Lsu wasnt).

To the coaching list...

1. Richt. Awesome recruiter, great playbook, teams dont give up (last year's sugar bowl), physical defenses

2. Spurrier. Would have been #1 a couple years ago, but it seems like his offense isnt nearly as effective. Of course a lot of that has to do with the players he has, but I still wonder if the SEC hasnt turned the corner on his offense. His last couple fla years were underachieving for the talent he had.

3. Tommy T. Has dominated the west with less talent then Alabama and Lsu.

4. Mike Shula. He's young and has done well considering a program coming off probation. Makes the most out of the lack of offensive talent.

5. Urban Meyer. I dont like how he threw his rb's under the bus, but his offense is unorthodox and hard to defend. If he can make Alex freaking Smith a heisman canidate, he knows how to coach.

6. Croom. Should have been coach at bama.

7. Fulmer. I just dont think that highly of him. He struggles with the big games, his teams fold at home against top opponents, we average about a blowout loss a year now which is unacceptable for a team with the talent we have, other programs (uga) have made inroads on recruiting. Yes he won the title but look at the players we had...pretty hard for that team to lose more then two games max.

8. Houston Nutt

9. Les Miles. They should be running over everyone with the talent they have.

In a shocking development, I'll have to defend TCHFCATUTK. There is no rational reason anyone could rate Sylvester Croom ahead of TCHFCATUTK. Croom's only head coaching experience consists of taking a bad situation and making it exponentially worse.

Just rate the current SEC head coaches based on who you would hire if you were the AD and your school had to fill that position, NOW, not eight or ten years ago.

I agree there is a thread just for Fulmer bashing or Fulmer idolaltry to use for negative personal comments as you mentioned.

Note to self . . . If I ever go to troll on a rival message board, take steps to correctly spell the name of the most successful coach in school history.

In the SEC.
Meyer
Spurrier
Richt
Tubbervile
Saban
What order you put those in is debatable, but no one can argue that they would take Fulmer over any of those coaches. I don't think it's a coincidence that we are now the 5th or 6th best program in the SEC.
