Where's Hobock? Bock, do you know what the esophogeal thing is and how serious it can be? The GI doc didn't cover it too much last night, most probably because I was still out of it just a bit and he seemed to think clearing up the infection took more priority atm. I'm assuming, based on past experience, you focus on the infection then move on to treating the other things. I had an infection years ago when I had to have my gall bladder removed and was told they couldn't remove it until the infection was taken care of. I'm trying to piece the conversation from last night back together, and it seems maybe he said the esophagus part had something to do with the cirrhosis interfering with blood flow in my liver. The other day, one of the things my gp talked about was something called "tips" surgery. Is that how they treat that? I'm happy for the no ulcer part and hope whateverantibiotics they give me work quick, but I'm still trying to look ahead at what might be down the road. The antibiotics will address the infection, but has nothing to do with the cirrhosis, so I'm just trying to get an idea of what more might be coming. I don't see the GI again for 4 weeks, which should hopefully give the meds time to get rid of the infection, then I assume we move back to what to do about my liver. Four weeks is a long wait. I was hoping you might know a little something to help me be prepared.
