Russell actually started ARA. He pulled it all together. When I played with him, we were doing old acid rock. Hendrix, etc. Then, he flipped a switch and went country/bluegrass. Great talent. The guy playing banjo in that vid is Bernie Leadon. He was an original member of the Eagles.

You never know. I thought I recognized the name but the person I knew/know name was a bit different. He was the tanning salon wizard of Knoxville for many years. Throws a hell of a tailgate for the football games.

I think he did it because that's where his music was taking him. Russell never really cared that much for the money. It was always about the shows and the music. He did the Run C&W stuff for a couple of years just for the hell of it. They recorded two albums and then he reformed the Amazing Rhythm Aces. They had split a few years prior. A lot of people in the US don't know who they are. They're much more popular in Europe where they normally tour. They've done 17 or more albums so they're doing OK. Russell still writes and sings some blues and records them on the albums along with the country songs.

We had a beautiful September and October this year, thank goodness.

It was yesterday and he's resting nicely. He expects to be back to work sometime after Christmas. He's hurting every time he moves due to the incisions, but otherwise getting along fine.

Glad to hear he's doing well. Is he going through any treatments?

He's head of the IT department for one of the government installations at Oak Ridge. No treatments. They just had to slice, go in and fix a few things and exit. It was due to an after effect from his original operation earlier this year. Basically, a patch job he called it.
