Why is it every 5000 miles you change the oil but my other cars every 3000 miles. Stupid random question

The whole 3000 mile thing was something put up by those in the oil industry. These days 5000 miles is the minimum for changing your oil.

I'm with heart on this one. I prefer 3k, have gone to 6 tho

I do mine every 5k. I run a full synthetic, and I have a turbo which puts extra stress on the oil. So far no issue. The final word is to look in your owner's manual and find out what they suggest.:twocents:
