we’re just going to throw an inflatable mattress in the bed of one of the trucksNah, we’re fine. We shifted our asset allocation to 70% Treasuries and CDs as I approached retirement. The 30% stock portion can jump around all it likes.
We‘ll get something to haul a teardrop trailer one day. With luck before we’re too old and decrepit to enjoy it!

This is true! True datThe original whistle blower from China said it was from a lab where a worker was infected by mistake and didn’t realize it, and left the facility. Who knows if that’s true but that was posted and covered up by China at the beginning of the outbreak.
Edit: likely not a terrorist attack
Sure, because that’s what people do when something new and scary happens. And I think there’s a whole lot of crap being conducted in government-funded labs around the world, and I’m very cynical about the motives behind the research. The original whistle blower from China said it was from a lab where a worker was infected by mistake and didn’t realize it, and left the facility. And they make 90% of USA medicine. A communist enemy makes 90% of USA'S medicine.Sure, because that’s what people do when something new and scary happens. I don‘t think the Chinese are honest about things, any more than any other government is these days, but I do tend to believe what the scientists find. At least they’ve got some research behind their findings, as opposed to the hair-on-fire crowd of any and every political persuasion.
I just got worked up being in that PF all day -- main reason I avoid it as much as possible == but the media has the whole country in a frenzy and why ? That tornado last week is already lost in the news and it killed 29 people in a matter of minutes - people need to get a grip on lifeNo it’s not. Viruses come out of nowhere and everywhere. The 1918 Spanish flu epidemic apparently originated in Nebraska or Kansas, infected US doughboys in a military camp, who carried it to Europe (plus leaked out in the US), and off we went. Spain was the only country to identify it as something out of the ordinary, and that’s how it got called “Spanish flu”.
Despite an immediately-repudiated one-off report from India claiming genetic manipulation (India and China have been enemies for thousands of years), it has been clearly shown to be of bat origin that jumped species, which happens a lot.
I truly don’t care what your political viewpoints are, but the problem is that when they mischaracterize something as terrorism or whatever, it influences the necessary public health response.
This virus not contained can kill 21 a week easy. In fact the first week in the USA it killed 21 people.I just got worked up being in that PF all day -- main reason I avoid it as much as possible == but the media has the whole country in a frenzy and why ? Now the Chinese are saying Americans brought the virus to China and that’s how it got there.Sure, because that’s what people do when something new and scary happens. as long as people dont stay inside its not getting contained and as far as I can tell everyone is out and about like its a little vacation -- you dont really think anyone is actually doing any work at home do you ?This virus not contained can kill 21 a week easy. In fact the first week in the USA it killed 21 people.
You stay away from our teardrop!!!I am going to live in a van down by the river!
Yeah, and that is one of the many, many terrible results of the neo-liberals AND neo-conservatives (both parties, y’all) running this country for the last several decades. They’ve pandered to their donors on Wall Street and sold out the people of America to line their own pockets. And they make 90% of USA medicine. A communist enemy makes 90% of USA'S medicine.
Exie,You stay away from our teardrop!!!
Obligatory musical reference and shout out to local boys Balsam Range made good (song written by Shawn Camp and Guy Clark). As always, the biggest guy in the band, Darren Nicholson, plays the tiniest instrument.
Pick me up like some hitchhiker
Let me ride into the wild and blue
I don't care which way I'm goin'
Long as that's the way you're goin' too
Hey I am a man with the travellin' teardrop blues.
That’s a couple of chuckleheads on Chinese social media. Like we don’t have the equivalent here. That’s what I mean about political arm-waving getting in the way of actual science that can, you know, actually figure something out.Now the Chinese are saying Americans brought the virus to China and that’s how it got there.![]()
I lean right but am independent.Yeah, and that is one of the many, many terrible results of the NEO-liberals AND neo-conservatives (both parties, y’all) running this country for the last several decades.
