I'm an old rock 'n' roller but he's got some damn good songs. I've drunk plenty of beer to that one. Think I'll have me a few tonight to wash the solder taste outta my mouth.

An old Willie song that's seen the bottom of a million bottles.

Well I gotta get drunk and I sure do dread it
Cuz I know just what I'm gonna do
I'll start to spend my money callin' everybody honey
And I'll wind up singin' the blues
I'll spend my whole paycheck on some old wreck
And brother I can name you a few
Well I gotta get drunk and I sure do dread it
Cuz I know just what I'm gonna do

I gotta get drunk, I just can't stay sober
There's a lot of good people in town
Who like to see me holler, see me spend my dollar
And I wouldn't dream of lettin' 'em down
There's a lot of doctors tell me
That I'd better start slowing it down
But there's more old drunks than there are old doctors
So I guess we'd better have another round

If anyone has any spare time, send up some good thoughts and vibes for my one and only little brother. He's spent all day today being prepped and will be on the operating table tomorrow for 6-10 hours depending on which team of surgeons you listen to. I'd take his place in a heartbeat if I could. I may have mentioned it before, but my avy is something I made the other day and sent to him. He got it the day before Easter and it's with him now. You know how it is with the ones that are close to you. You know everything will be OK, but, still you worry until it's over.

Will certainly say a prayer for your brother, sly.....one for you also. It isn't easy being away during something like thay

Thanks, folks. So far, so good. Obviously, very traumatic for him and his wife. First time he's been a patient in a hospital for any reason. He's usually the one visiting and doing all the calming for others. They moved him up on the surgery schedule and that threw him off a bit. Then, they had to cut his wedding ring off which really upset him. They didn't think they would have to. First time it's been off since it was placed there 27 years ago.

Surgery nurse just talked to SIL. First surgery team is almost finished with their initial part. Appears to be about halfway through after 5 hours.

Thanks, New. Fort Sanders. They picked Fort Sanders because they had one of the highest numbers for this type of operations and highest success rate in the country. Some hospital in Houston was a close second.

Surgery on my little bro to get rid of some bad stuff. They have to clean him, gut him, clean again and put stuff back in and make it work. Sounds a little like fishing, eh?

Hope they don't throw him in a skillet next... No no I kid, just tring to lighten the mood

Sounds like he's in good hands then. You gonna make a trip out to see him soon?

Hope everything is going good Sly, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your brother.

Thanks, TEX. It's appreciated. He's one of those folks that does everything for everyone and never expects anything in return. I think he'll be surprised at the out pouring of thoughts and emotions after it's over. 'Course, he won't see it for a few days as they will keep him knocked out until Friday or Saturday.

Thanks, Tri and FD. Some of the old sayings from Grizz's thread come to mind for me right now. Nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs

Blackberry/whipoorwill winter is coming in with a bang here in southeast tn

Weather here continues to be weird. Only place I've lived where it snows at 46 degrees. Drove through a blinding blizzard yesterday on the way to Ogden. Hard freeze last night. Sunny and mild today and supposed to be 70 and sunny tomorrow. Three years ago, we had snow in June at the 10-12,000 foot elevations.
