A real American hero...

I agree. A patriot would voice his disagreement with the leadership of his beloved country at the peril of losing his command knowing he violated the military code of conduct, wouldn't he?

I like those early reissues and have a great fondness for the Tele. I think that came from watching Jimmy Vaughn. I lived in So Cal not far from the Fender Factory. It was in Corona just down the road from San Bernardino. I went through on one of their tours. Amazing place.

Vaughn is under rated.
Never been to the Fender plant but the Gibson plant was great.

Did I hear, a year or so ago, that Gibson was in trouble for using an imported wood that was from an endangered tree? Or did I dream that?

I think his little brother Stevie Ray outshined him immensely..

Did you ever read or see an interview with SRV telling how he learned to play? When he was little, he would sneak Jimmy's guitar into a closet and teach himself. Neat story. I saw him several times in Dallas before his death. He was from the Oak Cliff area and went to school with a few of the kids that worked for me.

I didn't know, so I looked it up and you're right.

Rosewood from Madagascar.

Seems there was a coup and the new dictator lifted all the bans.

Of course, that didn't change the US' rules.

Love SRV, but Jimmie just seems to only be known for what he did with the Thunderbirds.

I saw a dvd where he came onstage with Stevie and he can play.

Have you seen this? Jimmy and SRV playing together on a double neck.

YouTube - Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmie Vaughan - Pipeline

I have, but it's been awhile, thanks.

I would be surprised if I didn't have almost every album, cd and dvd SRV made.

One of my favorites is SRV with Albert King, they talk between songs.

They were talking about SRV's first recordings and Albert says something like, yeah I heard you on that Bowie song playing my licks.

This is one of clay travis' latest tweets. ClayTravisBGID

So John Calipari had 4 of the top 18 players in college and he still couldn't make the Final Four? No wonder he cheats so much.:lolabove:

That is THE album. I always felt like Albert was sort of passing the torch over to SRV when they recorded it.

That was awesome sly!!! The fact that they are brothers makes it even better.

Thanks.:hi:

Yeah, pretty dang cool. His death was a great loss. The Hard Rock in Dallas had a huge SRV exhibit sometime afterwards. I remember SRV's guitar with the tailpiece from Jimi Hendrix's guitar on it.

Does anyone know why England still has a queen? Seems kinda pointless to me.

Just because they like it that way. She's more of a figurehead than anything. They've been a monarchy for over 1000 years. It's not really hurting anything, so they continue. It's basically a powerless position anymore.
