Now, you know for sure that you and the family need to include Utah in your cross country trip. And, that's just what's up here. Lots of stuff down south of Salt Lake City. About a 100 miles or so south of SLC it starts to take on a Monument Valley sort of look. From North to South, about every kind of critter you'd want to see except shark. Antelope Island, about 10-12 miles away is the biggest nesting area anywhere for eagles during their migration.
You're more likely to see bison than anything. Herd is about 600-800, I think. I've only see a dozen or so prong horn antelope. Big horn sheep, mule deer, probably 100 different species of birds. When the eagles are there, they absolutely fill up the trees.Strange. I figured antelope island would be swarming with antelopes. But nope...eagles. Go figure!
Wonder what's on Seal Island? Probably kangaroos.
