When 70,000 people pay $100 a ticket to watch a cop conduct an arrest, they'll be paid like athletes.

And when any professional athlete ever starts contributing to my income, I'll care, but I really just don't. I guess that's why I like college football better.

Several companies pay millions to put their commercials on when cop shows/documentaries are on. EX.. Cops, First 48, and the list goes on and on. Tom Brady probably could do my job. Still doesnt equate to 100 million dollar contracts.. I think that is why there is such a problem with athletes these days. They don't live like a normal person. Kinda like Hollywood.

You can't be serious about this. The vast and overwhelming majority of players playing for the NFL lead regular lives, working EXTREMELY hard 5-6 days a week and go home to their wife and kid at the end of the day. Don't pretend that because there are a few that you have seen on cribs flossin' some ice that all players are sitting in hot tubs filled with Crystal.

In your opinion what percentage of NFL players lead normal lives...I think it's an interesting subject

IMO teachers can thank their union for holding better teachers back. I am convinced the public would be more than happy to pay more for the better performing teachers. The unions would never allow the development of a rating scale to make that possible.

Where I'm at (east tn), there's just a payscale that basically says for every year you teach you're worth a LITTLE more, to a certain point. Teachers don't make bad money around here, but it's certainly not great money. I think the teachers union here is worthless, but so are the high-ups on the school board

amen, heaven forbid that pay be merit based.

Well, there are about 1700 players in the NFL, and I would say there are close too or around 100 "hollywood types", which is around 5% of the 1700.

Therefore I would say close to 95% are normal people leading normal lives. Yes they travel and yes they are on tv, but a lot of people travel more for work than NFL players.

Thats cool. I'd guess right along with you, maybe a few more than 100 but not many. I still think they make too much....a couple mill as opposed to several hundred mill wouldnt hurt anyone.

While I agree that pay for people in the public service sector isn't great, it is a capitalist economy and I agree with hat, those players have abilities that allow them to charge what they want.

....ever been to eastern europe?
Professional men who go home from work and put on their "bad-guy" outfits are REALLY idiots. It's like playing cowboy and indian. Fake torn jeans, tat's, bandanas, leather....then church on sunday with the fam and in the office with your suit on by 8:00a.m. monday morning. Get a life, grow up. If you like riding bikes that's cool....just leave the costume in the closet.
P.S. The whole "making your bike loud to be cool" is patently flaming also. And, just so ya know you are invading my thoughts, my car, my hot-tub from two miles away, my family time and I'm about to start beaning you with a one pump red rider. It ain't cool, it flames and at that decible level your flaming in my space mister dress-up.
How's that for a random opinion?????
:eek:lol: I consider that an instant classic!

Hat and I were called gay lovers last night.

While that may be true, no one on really needs to know any thing about our personal life.

:wink2:
