Quinten Dormady is transferring

You think darnold improves this year? I do know football and I do know he had a better year last year.

Fewer tds and more pics this year compared to last. He did throw for more yards.

Maybe Helton was better the year before. You should know that. :)

Worked wonders with Brandon Doughty and some say that Sam Darnold kid is this side of ok. :hmm:

Some say that jg is not this side of ok. So how does he do with a kid that may not be very good?

Don’t change your words. You said darnold had improved. I said he has not gotten better. My point nothing says he’s as good as cutcliffe.

Well there is speculation that this year was the first that tee was full time play caller, prior to that it was a mix of the helton bros and martin. Im not saying he is a miracle worker, most of those have hc in their title ( mullen, kiffin, frost, meyer) but he has improved the qb where he has coached.

Ok man, he has mostly improved people where he has gone. He’s also young so it’s not like he has a lot of history doing this. One of your two examples was busted. So my point is and always has been, our hopes are on a qb that has proven he is not very good and a coaching staffs unproven ability to guide a qb in the right direction to win games. I just don’t like that and hope Pruitt’s staff can improve jg in all phases. His predecessor needed tua to fix his qb problems.

Jg has only proven himself to be a let down to people that wanted him to fail in the first place. The statistics are there he outperformed the other qb's in all categories but turnovers and touchdown passes, despite playing the hardest part of the schedule. You have said it before you dont like jg because he was pissed about being lied to before the GT game. I feel that by your posts there is no amount of info that will change that until jg goes on a hot streak, and then and only then would you change your mind. Its sad there are "fans" like you that judge a 19 year old by the first exposure he gets. Did he look pouty when he played through an ankle injury for almost a full quarter, or was your judgement of him made up already?

If he won I would like him. He played against a bad Vandy and lost. He played against a bad Vandy defense and after a strong start he did nothing.

I have said that if he wins all is forgiven. I said he pouted then didn’t produce. Produce and I’ll like you.

Bet these “some” people are related to the ones on this board that declared Dobbs was “not a SEC QB” based on HIS true freshman season. I’d steer clear of THEM. :shades:

You’re the one who said some say. So whatever you said earlier apply that to your own post.

Because he is the only player responsible for wins right? The other 21 guys and coaches are just there to look good right?

He’s the only one that gets a win loss record. Comes with the territory. He played like diddly poo against Vandy. Second half he looked bad. The whole team did, but he is in a position to keep scoring against a bad defense.

Thomson is a pro-style quarterback with an arm that Simms calls “powerful.” He broke out in 2016 with 16 touchdowns, 2,436 yards and just five interceptions. He only played in the first two games of this season because of a shoulder injury. His former offensive coordinator at Wagner, Rich Scangarello, is the current quarterbacks coach for the San Francisco 49ers. He’s just as resolute in his view of Thomson’s talent and future.

“I think he’s an NFL quarterback,” Scangarello said. “I have no doubt about it. He’s athletic, smart and tough, and he’s just scratching the surface as a player. He’s as good as the back-up quarterbacks in the NFL right now. I really believe that. He’s legit.”

Word has begun to trickle through college circles about Thomson’s potential. He said that he’s spoken to Tennessee offensive coordinator Tyson Helton and the Vols have offered a blueshirt. (Essentially, that means he can’t go on paid official visits and is awarded a scholarship on the first day of camp, which counts toward the following year’s recruiting class.)

Sentiment applies to yourself as well. Someone is leading us astray. It’s almost like they completely discount the notion that ONE SEASON does not make a career. :eek:hmy:

Do it. We need all the help we can get. Don’t know if he can play but I know what we have on cupboard.

Yeah, I just hope jg can improve in all phases and I’m not sure without a cutcliffe that can happen. I mean are we bringing in a qb whisperer? If we are I haven’t heard of it. Pruitt is a defensive guy so I’m not sure he’s used to handling qbs. I mean the two best things his predecessor did for qbs was hire Kiffin and put tua in the game after not playing tua all year even though he was the better qb all year. So I’m guessing Pruitt didn’t learn a lot about qb handling while at bama. I just hope jg has grown up and ready to get better. I don’t care what he says either, I care if we win.

(although Tua had played some) Smart should have known Saban would do something like that, to him.

Now it's Pruitt's turn.

Maybe I'm crazy, but Guarantano looks to me like a guy who can make the throws. Anything resembling average o-line play will probably mysteriously make him look like he knows what he's doing.

You’re not crazy. Some decent OLine play, an actual D1 offensive scheme and some solid QB coaching will do wonders for this kid.

So the attrition at the o line position by then(playing walk ons)and the lack of run game didnt have anything to do with the loss? It all gets put on jg? Seems pretty fair.

JG threw for nearly 1,000 yards in limited play, completed 62% of his throws, threw 4 tds vs 2 ints, against primarily good SEC competition. He doesn’t need a qb “whisperer”, just a legit qb coach and coordinator who can coach him on feeling pressure and getting rid of the ball on time, even if it means throwing the ball away.

Crompton and Peterman, those two kids needed a qb whisperer....JG only needs a legit SEC QB coach, something he’s not had to date in his 2 years at Tennessee.
