Quinten Dormady is transferring

Between transfers and other potential bad news looming (Chance Hall is a possibility), I think we make it to 25.

Not many Seniors for 2019 class though (I want to say 15 or less).

Unfortunately, teams do not gain scholarships when players leave. 25 is the limit to sign each signing period now. CBJ and staff only left us with 23 for this year.

You don't know this anymore than the Coach's do. If he doesn't progress under this staff then that claim can be made after next season. The light comes on for QB's and other players every year with coaching changes. We have had that happen to 2 QB's the last 10 years. Crompton looked 10 times worse than JG ever did that year before Kiffin took over. He only led the SEC in passing TD's. Erik Ainge looked awful and lost the job to Rick Clausen. In steps Cut and Ainge led us to the SEC Championship and was a completely different QB. It happens every year in college football.

More than a few on this board thought Dobbs would never play another meaningful down after his freshman year. Shows how much they know...

I hope O am wrong and we can sign 25, but it is rumored that CJP and staff have found out that only 23 are available for this year

He pouted on sideline until he got his way. He held on to ball way too long on simple out routes. He does down like a sack of potatoes with seemingly no effort by the defense. He has zero toughness. If he is the man two things can happen. He surprises me and does something very few qbs can donand that’s pull a 180, which I’d be happy to be wrong. Option two, McBride starts for us.

Absolutely..I don't know many QB's who could have looked good with that coaching staff, all the OLine injuries, inconsistency from the receivers, the run game was non existent for the most part after the GA game except vs UK and all the turmoil that started after the GA game. After the GA game Kelly didn't have another 100 yard game the rest of the year and Ty had one. Doesn't make it any easier for a RS FR QB to not be able to lean on the run game for help. There are veteran QB's that couldn't have done much better under those circumstances. But nothing about his play ever showed he couldn't be a good QB under better circumstances. I'm sure he became a little gun-shy knowing he was gonna take big hit after big hit but showed his toughness. I'm sure it's hard knowing you have about 2 seconds before your on your back and trying to read his progression's at the same time. He has plenty of tools for the Coach's to work with and develop. I think he will be the QB we expected to see under this staff. Way too early to call him a bust or not a good QB.

Yes, good luck to you QD. Shrout likely will be the #2 come season opener. Hope he and JG both find lots of pocket presents!

What the hell games have you been watching? He pouted the very first game and did show his immaturity. But he was also told he would play and did not. You never saw it again after that. He's the toughest QB we have had since the Ice Man. He got killed almost every time he dropped back I don't know where you saw his lack of toughness or just flopping before he got hit. I guarantee almost every poster on here would back up how tough he is. If those simple out routes had been open he wouldn't have sat back and held the ball waiting on his receiver's to get open. I will agree he needs to react quicker and throw the ball away instead of taking all those hits. But that can be taught through coaching. Many, many QB's make huge strides in their 2nd year and do complete a 180 with a coaching change. But to question is toughness is the most insane thing I have seen on Volnation. There is no way you could think that if you actually watched the game unless you are just biast and wouldn't say anything positive about him regardless. I beg you to get other opinions on here about JG's toughness. Please!!!

A sensible mindset for TN fans at this point is to have no expectations as to Guarantano's intent to stay either.

Why would anyone think that? JG isn't going anywhere. Why would he transfer, have to sit out a year and then battle for a starting job he could win or not win instead of stay here and be the day 1 starter?

Tough enough to pout. He lost me when he pulled s Hurd and went full blown selfish. Hurts being a great team mate really makes me not like him more. Tough players don’t pout. They keep fighting.

Ainge described our offensive line last season accurately. On any given play, 4 out of 5 could execute their blocking assignment perfectly. Rare that there was 5 out of 5. I cut both JG and QD a lot of slack. They were pretty much hammered in about every series.

Get some blocking and a REAL QB coach and we are in business.

Jones never met a QB situation he couldn't screw up.

He shoved Worley into an offense he wasn't a fit for and it took an injury for him to get Dobbs into a game.

Did the same thing with Dormady after playing BS games with him and Guarantano all off season.

Best of luck to him. I'm sure he will pan out.

So Jones screwed it up so bad that when he left QD decided to transfer. Explain that logic to me.

Good god he did it one time in the very first game. If he had continued to do it that's one thing and he did have to work on maturity. There's not even remotely a comparison between what Hurd did and what JG did. If every player was judged off a pouting incident then there wouldn't be many that have many fans. There's 30 and 40 year old professional athletes in every sport who have had pouting incidents. That's just nitpicking and looking for a reason not to like him. Hurd was playing and getting favoritism from Butch then just quit on his team during the year. That's as bad of a comparison as you could have made. And yes tough, grown a$$ men and players pout but that doesn't mean they aren't tough. You don't play college and NFL football if you are a *u$$y. I would rather hear you just don't like him and hope he sucks his whole career than the nitpicky and just completely untrue reasons you gave. You're watching the wrong sport if you don't wanna see primadonna's pouting and having temper tantrums on the sidelines. QB's are the absolute worst. If you think Peyton, Brady, Rogers, Ryan,Newton,Brees and every other QB hasn't had their pouting, little girl moments on the sidelines, then you haven't watched a lot of football. Because I promise you they have.

I'll add one more thing. You obviously didn't see JG a few months back with that poor local kid who was getting bullied. He took time out of his Saturday, along with Swain to go spend time with him, take him to eat and go shop. Then went the next week to his school with a few others to visit him. Yea that's a horrific character trait and should be disliked by every fan and teammate. We damn sure don't need that nonsense out of our QB. That's even worse than pouting one time. We should petition to get those type of character traits out of Knoxville, there's no place here for that!😶😶

I think he has a great shot at succeeding in a new system and potentially in the NFL. Best of luck to QD.
