Questions/Information for those attending the SECCG in Atlanta

I stayed in Alpharetta,GA a few weeks back. About 15 minutes/miles from Atlanta but very nice area to stay in plus MARTA goes there.

Thanks for the kind words! I live in Alpharetta and it's a great area. Lots of great restaurants and bars without the congestion of Buckhead and Atlanta. You can drive to the dome in less than 30 minutes or be at the Norrth Springs MARTA station in 10 mins.

If you're staying here (or want to) and need suggestions, just email me. I'm volmanbill@yahoo.com.

BTW, I'll be leaving Alpharetta around 1:15-1:30 if anyone wants to caravan from here.

Marta does go to North Springs and that IS the western most part of Alpharetta, right off of GA400. Great area to stay and plenty of good restaurants, shopping(North Point Mall) and nice hotels. Have Fun.

I'm looking out my window at the North Springs marta station. I also live in Alpharetta, a good 15 miles more north than the station.

I think we should make a point for the VolNation forum to meet up somewhere, CNN center or what have you. Look for me, I'll be wearing Orange.

seems like the unofficial consensus is Jocks & Jills.

This may sound crazy but I, too, will be wearing orange!

Wonder if we should identify ourselves somehow. Like printing the VOL NATION logo from the board, and affixing to hats or shirts, etc.

Would be nice to meet some of you guys but will be hard to pick you out of the other orange throngs.

Inside the CNN center. Go in the entrance by McCormick and Shimicks (sp?) and the Jocks and Jills will be down on your right.

who's going to pound some shots with me?? We gotta do this thang right!!

I will. Will you be at the J&J's in the CNN center? What time? Roooooolllllllllllllllll Callllllllllllllllllllllllll..........

I read this entire thread (i gotta find a hobby) and although the MARTA and hotel talk were beaten to death like a (insert appropriate metaphore here) I will look forward to seeing you fellow Volunteers at the CNN center for some adult beveraggggez. GO VOLS!!!:)

GAVol, dont even start with me about thriving water supply. i live on lake lanier, its ridiculous. the lake's down so low that most of the northern parts (where im from) just look like marsh land with a little creek in the middle. this drought is killin' me. well im living in atl right now bc i go to tech but still, not looking forward to going back home for christmas to see the lake drained.

My tickets are getting overnighted in the morning. I can't wait!!!!!!! I too will be at the CNN Center in orange pounding some cold ones before the game.

Atlanta's marta system is absolutely the worst mass transit system in the U.S.---very poorly run, a bunch of homeless / thug type people in all the stations, street hustlers in the 5 points station area downtown, etc. Plus, the employees do not have a clue. Avoid marta at all costs. Take cabs.

What about Friday night? Where is a good place to find Vol fans the night before. My wife and I are driving down Friday morning and our hotel is in Midtown. We definitely want to hang out with Tennessee folks when we go out that night. Any idea?

Last time I went to the Dome for a game I stopped by the Bass Pro Shop on I-85 and it was like a Vol fan convention was going on in there.

The "take cabs" recommendation is a tip off that he doesn't get down to ATL much. Have you ever tried to find a cab after a sporting event in Atlanta? They are nonexistent.

I was about to say the same thing. I hope he's not coming down for the game, because he's going to be standing on the corner of Marietta and International holding his hand in the air for a long, long time.
