Question on the Roster

I appreciate the response but that's not really my question.

My question was about the 85 total scholarship limit. The added year of eligibility for some players necessarily means you lose players somewhere else in order to stay under the 85 cap. I don't know how UT or anyone else is managing that.

Was that cap lifted to accommodate the extra year?

if you remove the returning players granted the extra year due to COVID, Tennessee's roster number is 72. Way below the 85 number

It is my understanding that cap is still the same however seniors are outside the cap for this next year.

There is a lively debate over those leaving, those coming, and all that. Not really trying to start another thread for that.

But I'm curious.... does anyone know how UT's current scholarship total compares to the 85 limit? I cannot find information saying that the scholarship limit was increased, was it?
We’ve had 85 transfers

That's kind of my point. If you are going to purge the roster for whatever reason... the Covid allowance provides some temporary cover.

Just have a sponsor pay for the tuition and board, and bring players on without scholarship (walk-on) but with all the benefits.
And that is exactly how you get put on probation. Were you a consultant with our former staff?

I don't think COVID Seniors count this year.

We've got extra room but we're probably bracing for losing up to six from the ncaa cartel.

The NCAA is no longer in a position to dictate compensation restrictions, so, who or what is going to put an institution in "probation" for what I mentioned?

The NCAA (and member schools) will soon be trying to figure out how to settle the existing class action suit but the soon big piles of them.

If a school in Louisiana tried to stop what I proposed as of yesterday, they could actually be in violation of State Law. ;) Of course, I have no idea why a school would interfere, as they would be gaining from the transaction.
