Yes, but he knew enough to consult Ernie Grunfeld about the opening for BB HC, and hired Pearl as a result. Hamilton had to get approval from others for any of the HC hirings/firings of the revenue sports. He didn't hire Kiffin or Dooley unilaterally. Look, as bad as an AD as he turned out to be, he was still better than Fulmer was as AD. Hamilton gets too much hate from the dumbed downed crowd
