During the last two games, it appears as if the Tennessee Terrace is almost empty. Am I only seeing shots when everyone is going to the concession stand or is that section remaining mostly vacant?

I was at the Cincy game last week. The Terrace attendace was not good. That's why we were shockingly nowhere near 100,000.

I have a friend who has his seats there.... they are expensive on the annual cost... about 7 grand I think... he said a lot of folks go behind and watch the tv's of other games once our games get out of reach like the last couple weeks. he lso said a lot of folks only make it for the big games...you would think that they would show up or at least give them to a friend for 7 g's a pair?!?

They have a lounge area and a buffet. Thats where most are, sitting behind the glass and eating/watching the game

While I would love to have the access to a large buffet and lounge area, I also love being out in the open air, enjoying the football!!! I think it kinda looks bad...am I the only one?

Good Lord. I didn't realize having money turned people into such pansy azz cream puffs. Sack up and get out there to cheer on the Vols!

Have you ever been up there?

It's very understandable that they would want to sit inside for part of the game.

It does look bad. I have been in attendance for the first 2 games and it's never more than half full. I understand why but it looks horrible right there at midfield.

My Girlfriend and my Mom sat up there last year for the Florida game. It was their first time up there. They said it was awesome in the lounge and all that, but they spent all four quarters glued to the seats outside.

Give me Petro's chili and a bench seat in section C and I'll have 10x more fun than any of those buffet eatin', lounge sittin', fair weather ninnies.

I would think a lot of it just comes down to how invested you are in the game. I personally wouldn't be happy inside a lounge, watching it on tv. I might as well stay home.

I DO appreciate having tv's in concession areas so I don't miss a play. I just love the game itself, and don't wanna miss anything.

It was pretty empty last week. Both the east/west clubs were pretty full. The best thing about those seats isn't being able to sit inside and eat and watch TV. It's being able to leave the girls inside to chat, and having a glass barrier to separate that conversation from football. Outside there's no talking about shopping or uniform fashion, just football.

Just to clarify, I'm a girl and my conversations are all football and none of that other stuff. Make sure you are not unfairly lumping us all in the same category.

I know more about football than many of my male coworkers and love it wholeheartedly.

I wasn't trying to. Just saying not all women can pay attention to football for 3-4 hours.

a few quick facts:
1. The Terrace has outside seats which are only slightly nicer then the bench seats in the stadium. They require a one time donation and then the seats are about 5k per 2 seats. They do not get any free food or inside seating but are offered upgraded food for sale. If they are watching TV inside, they are standing up.

2. The Club level is what I think the OP is talking about. They have outside leather seats and free food but the cost is over 10K per year and a 100,000 dollar donation. They get a private lounge and inside seating. But before we bash them, remember it is these donors that allow TN to get the staff and coaches etc. TN received 1 billion dollars in donations over the past 7 years. I just which more of it would go to helping us win.

One more thing: they must be true Vol fans and love the University to donate that kind of money. I know some people who have seats and you would be surprised how many people up their are not loaded with money.

I'm not bashing anyone, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that it makes me sad that many people see it as a purely social event and could care less about the game...while people who would absolutely LOVE to participate in the game can't afford to even go to every game, much less contribute that kind of money to get the great seats.

As it is with most things, it is the classic struggle between the have's and the wish they had's. At least I'm blessed that the only area I feel like a "wish they had" is football game attendance. First World problem at its best. :good!:

I think the terrace was a bad idea from the start. Yeah, it's amazingly nice and it is a good attraction for recruits. Let's face it...it is for big time rollers whom most of could care less about football or sports at UT. I have several friends whom sat in the terrace and I will say they cannot name 5 people on our football roster. They only go for about 1qt of the game and leave. I'm sure there are some diehard fans that sat in the terrace and this is not pointed toward them. However, it shows every game and it did last yr that it is not good for the home game crowd intensity or attendance. If people are not gonna use the tix then for sake, sell them to someone who will show support for our boys.

I think everyone is trying to generalize and place everyone in a certain class. I know for a fact that their are diehard fans in the club level that breath and die by the vols and would not miss one minute of the game outside and scream during the whole game. The problem is stadium wide and not just in the "rich" levels. I have been to every game for years and have seen many fans in the stands during crittical moments who should be yelling and instead they are talking about the dress they got on or where they are going to get their car fixed and not into the game.

Good post. I was just about to say the same thing. There are diehard fans in the club level. Just because they have some nice amenities doesn't mean they think it's just a social event. I doubt we would say the Haslams or other big donors don't care about the game because they sit there.

Some good points, but other than the upper half of the top deck endzone corners, the stadium was pretty full last year and for the first two games of this season. The Terrace, however, was not. To me, that means they had better things to do than go to the game and support the Vols. That doesn't mean that there aren't some hardcore Vols fans in the fancy seats, but it is telling that the terrace was the most sparsely populated portion of the outdoor seating.

Those box seats are an abomination. I hate them. They lower capacity, and they look like garbage. Furthermore, the poofters go stand inside? Not real fans IMO. I say charge them to stay inside and redo the box seats into normal seats. I know capacity is lower now, but once we get to winning again the more the stadium could hold. Not to mention more seats should equate to lower costs. Supply vs. demand!

I wish I had a dislike button for your post. Those seats would be nice, but I love my team too much to be stuck up behind some glass like a zoo animal. I want to feel the roar of the crowd when Bray hooks up w/Hunter or Rogers... not have it muffled by 6 inches of plexiglass.
