Question about LSU/UF game cancelation - East Coast weather [update: game cancelled]

Yes, if postponed until Sunday. If it is delayed until later on Saturday, then no.

So, if Florida says they are not ready on Saturday and there is no game than its forfeit against Florida since they refused to play?

If LSU doesnt make the flight to florida, and the gators do not cancel. Then it will be a forfeit for LSU, and the Gators will receive a victory by forfeit.

Guys I have been watching this thing for a week and literally, nobody knows what's going to happen after it reaches southern florida. They are tripping all over themselves trying to figure it out. The spaghetti models had it off shore, then on shore going up the coast, then riding the florida coast and going out to seas, then hitting the coast and doing a circle and going across the state, then hitting south florida and doing circles, then going out to sea....literally nobody knows and they are very carefully managing the information they are handing out. This thing could come inland to the orlando area and just sit and spin. Nothing says it won't. Most people are getting the hell out of the way (smart). What i'm saying is there probably won't be any games in the florida area. There probably won't be much of a crowd if they try.

If they did cancel the game and it turned out to be the difference in who wins the East, something would have to happen. I guarantee you they wouldn't just let Florida be East champs without having to play LSU.

all reports are florida is standing put and not wanting to move the game in hopes of a cancel. Thats their only shot at the east because all they have left is uga and arky.... so just say worst case we lose tx am and bama, and fla/lsu canceled and fla beats uga and ark, they in... we out.

This is absolutely horrible, if this happens. Florida needs to lose to LSU & lose to Arkansas this season. We really, really need this game to be played.

its not like they can add the game on at the end of the season, no time. Plus neither have same bye week. It could be crazy if they dont work it out today.

I was thinking about that. We might need LSU to beat FL

Finebaum just said that if they play that Fournette can not play yet with ankle.
Would help LSU if they postponed the game.
I just hope they don't cancel it and not reschedule it.

If Florida voluntarily chooses not to play despite the league saying that it is possible to do so, then yes, they'd forfeit. But why would that happen?

If true, that administration should be drug out in the street and beaten. You have a cat 4 hurricane heading there.........unless the latest models show there to be no concern for the Gainesville area.

In 2008, the UCLA vs. Miami game was cancelled in the early season due to a storm. Miami was ahead of us in the polls at the end of the season. Then UCLA traveled and played Miami in late November. UCLA won and this put us in contention for the National Championship. The following week, we had to beat Mississippi State in order to stay # 1 and play in the championship.

LSU would have to play Florida, at some point in the season...

Both have out of conference games the 19th of November. I would bet those would be cancelled and it would be made up there. Either that or Florida is going to have to go to LSU this weekend if the storm makes it unplayable. No way they just cancel it.

thats because they both had worked out the same bye week. Not the same scenerio now

It's the same thing you laid out but the opposite (switch).

The answer: Because of hurricane.

There simply is no reason for anyone to be around Florida unless they have to be, it has nothing to do with LSU. It's called common sense, it's not a one day event... it basically covers a week under even ideal situations. Moving the game time does nothing.

I guess what I would be confused about is why Florida might not want to move the game... for LSU it really doesn't matter... I would think a cancellation would hurt Florida as I would think that would put the Vols up the equivalent of 3 games over the Gators.

They will play the game. The hurricane will move up the coast and be out of the area by gametime. It might be a little rainy.

What makes you say they wont postpone til later in the year?

There is no date. you think they are going to push the whole college football season back a week to play it? That isnt even in discussion, it will be this weekend sometime in gainsville or baton rouge.

Because no games have ever been re-scheduled until the end of the year, right? Vol fans, as-well-as UF fans, should know the answer to this.

thats not the issue. Lol, they are under a state of emergency, evacuations of families, the flights are shut down comming in this weekend, there is more to it than "gametime"
