He said hes willing to run if needed. He will be 3rd and short guy...first time we hand off from the 30 on 3rd and 1 hes breaking a 70 yd TD.

So, dont get alot of the same VOL coverage here in Houston as back home and I'm sure there is a good reason, but I was wondering why we recruited Crouch only to (MAYBE) move him from RB to LB? I get we need LB"s but why take a great running back (reminds me sort of of Derrick Henry type), recruit the heck out of him and move him to a alternate position? I know its been done before but this guy looks like a legit RB to me.
So you don’t get the recruiting forum in Houston?

Simple, as a football player would you rather be the hammer or the nail? The longevity of LB's in the NFL is a lot higher than it is for RB's.
An excellent point. Historically, most running backs lose effectiveness after age 30. With a 3-4 year rookie contract at lower than actual value, running backs usually only get one real shot at the money around 25-26 years old. That's a big reason Le'Veon Bell is holding out this season even though he was offered 14 million per or whatever it was. You can probably extend a career, with some luck, at least another whole long term contract at linebacker.

I believe it's a longevity issue, he's thinking about his N.F.L future.

what kind of injuries did he have? Did they require surgery?

Crouch was recovering from an ankle injury that he suffered in his team’s first game of the 2018 season, and decided to sit out the remainder of this season's games to let the ankle heal. He said, "I’ve just had like a little tweaked ankle since the first game, a high-ankle sprain. Those things linger a lot, so just trying to see what happens from that.” He had hip surgery earlier in 2018, but says that hasn’t been an issue. “I feel like my health is going pretty good,” he said. “For the most part my hip feels great."

Earl only played in the NFL from '78 thu '85 with '85 being in Nawlins. RBs only have so many hits in their body and then they go downhill pretty quick once it's reached.

And have you seen Earl Campbell lately?

It's very common for high school RBs to switch to LB in college, as long as the kid has the right body type and physical attributes to make the switch. It happens all the time. If he wants to play LB and he has the ability, we'd be crazy to pass on him.

right body type and physical attributes... add one more MENTAL MIND SET.

The reason he came to Tennessee is that we promised to exclusively use him at LB. Clemson wanted him at RB and that is why he cooled on them. He would not be at Tennessee if we recruited him at RB. And when you have an opportunity to snag a player as talented as QC, you do it, and let him play LB. He will be a huge asset at LB.

Actually, Clemson was the first team to tell him that they saw him as a LB in college and convinced him on the idea. Check the facts.

Unless you are Frank Gore. Then you are somehow able to deliver punishment to defenses for as long as you like.

It’s the right choice

I’m still kinda wondering Wtf James Wilder was thinking staying at RB his whole time at FSU

Guys that big can’t play RB in the league

And as others have said longevity plus hasn’t this kid missed a lot of time in high school because of injuries
