So, dont get alot of the same VOL coverage here in Houston as back home and I'm sure there is a good reason, but I was wondering why we recruited Crouch only to (MAYBE) move him from RB to LB? I get we need LB"s but why take a great running back (reminds me sort of of Derrick Henry type), recruit the heck out of him and move him to a alternate position? I know its been done before but this guy looks like a legit RB to me.

The reason he came to Tennessee is that we promised to exclusively use him at LB. Clemson wanted him at RB and that is why he cooled on them. He would not be at Tennessee if we recruited him at RB. And when you have an opportunity to snag a player as talented as QC, you do it, and let him play LB. He will be a huge asset at LB.

Ahhhh..I had ZERO idea that was the case. As you can tell by the post. I had no idea he wanted to play LB, and the Clemson aspect on this. I had only read his Rivals, 24/7 pages. His film was all about the RB position.

He can play both and play them both well. We need both. Why would you not take him. He can be your starting LB and emergency RB if you need him.

He wants to train and play as a LB so that's what Pruitt said he would do with him and I believe he'll become a great LB for us.

I also won't be surprised if we have some running plays designed for him too.

He'll make more $$$$ and last longer in the NFL as a good LB so it's a smart business decision looking forward.

We're lucky to get this tough, smart young man.

Adding Gray at RB was a big time get for UT (Depth looks solid at RB). Pruitt must believe Crouch can help us earlier at LB.

Earl only played in the NFL from '78 thu '85 with '85 being in Nawlins. RBs only have so many hits in their body and then they go downhill pretty quick once it's reached.

He is a big strong fast player. I would play him every opportunity I had. Defense, offense, special teams wherever I could get him on the field. That strong at his age, once he gets in SC program at college level he will be a very good asset for UT.

It's very common for high school RBs to switch to LB in college, as long as the kid has the right body type and physical attributes to make the switch. It happens all the time. If he wants to play LB and he has the ability, we'd be crazy to pass on him.

And 7 years is actually considered to be on the longer side of an NFL career for RB’s. I think 3 years is the average career for an NFL RB.

He wants to play LB for career longevity.

If this kid destroys the All American bowl at RB, then I think you start to question your decision here. Great problem to have either way

Almost all of these top recruited guys have the athletic ability to play both sides of the ball and many play out of their most "natural" position in HS due to what the HS team needs to win. The tailback on our HS team ended up playing LB and DE at Lees McRae and then eventually at Tennessee.

On 104.5 earlier today Doug Matthews said that Crouch had not signed his LOI yet. Is that true? And if so I don't like that.
