Couldn’t agree more. Also anyone who thinks he will improve his numbers with our receivers is in for a rude awakening. Aguilar had 3 very good receivers at App State, and still had 14 picks. Like you said, i’m not talking myself into this oneCan't even talk myself into getting excited for this season.
Just feels like any sort of momentum this program had just dissipated.
That’s an issue I’m having . Heupel can coach guys up. I feel like we should more concerned about what Heupel can mold out of these guys than what they were before. Hendon Hooker and Milton should give us confidence that he’s capable of turning guys into good to very good quarterbacks when they weren’t at their previous stops. What quarterback at UT hasn't been at least a serviceable game manager after Heupel got their hands on him? You guys forget that we have real coaches now. Not the used car salesmen of the 2010s. Whoever it is is going to have a high TD-INT ratio and will have a rb room go over 2000 yards. And if he's not good? Guess what.... we have 2 top 20 QBs (recruiting ranking) already on the roster. We're gonna be fine.
Yeah, classic case of Vol fans thinking we can steal the top QBs in the country from anyone not in the SEC and setting themselves up to be disappointed with the reality of the spring portal windowAguilar is the best option we could have hoped for in my opinion. I think there was a very low chance of swaying anyone else to come.
It is combination of how late in the game we are and the fact that our receiver room is one of the most unproved in the country.Yeah, classic case of Vol fans thinking we can steal the top QBs in the country from anyone not in the SEC and setting themselves up to be disappointed with the reality of the spring portal window
I don’t think he’s what TN “needs” he’s just what we are stuck with.Aguilar fits what Tennessee needs. While he isn’t a “home-run” or anything like that he is a one year rental that brings in depth and experience and isn’t going to make Merk or GMac consider leaving since nobody is going to guarantee Aguilar the job. If Heupel can do what he did Hooker and Milton then I believe he could make Aguilar a serviceable and efficient QB for us.
When a team takes a stand with a starting QB over money, they better be willing to spend whatever it takes to replace them with equal or better talent. I think most fans understand that Tennessee screwed the pooch.Yeah, classic case of Vol fans thinking we can steal the top QBs in the country from anyone not in the SEC and setting themselves up to be disappointed with the reality of the spring portal window
What if money isn't the only factor for the QBs we were interested in? What if it's not even the most important factor? When a team takes a stand with a starting QB over money, they better be willing to spend whatever it takes to replace them with equal or better talent. “Whatever it takes to replace them with better talent” just isn't realityWhen a team takes a stand with a starting QB over money, they better be willing to spend whatever it takes to replace them with equal or better talent. I think most fans understand that Tennessee screwed the pooch.
Maybe...but he has something the other 2 QBs on roster don't have and that is 2 full seasons of playing time. If he is the best we can get, you have to bring him in. It's worth a shot at this point.Aguilar was ranked the 84th QB prospect by 247 back in December. 84th…. I think people are just wanting him to be good vs him being actually anything more than a backup
