'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

Side note. I like where we are with Syracuse DL player. I think edge will be more productive this year as a unit.
Lbs remind me of dbs last offseason, good talent and good mix of vets and young guys.
Safeties, I have made my opinion known. Not a fan.
Maraad Watson is a beast. Freshman all american, I hope we can get him. Really hoping we go after that Houston safety, i feel like he would start immediately

Defense has fallen off a mini hill.

- DBs banged up and our safeties are meh. Not sure how McCoy will hold up.
- DL lost a ton of solid contributors
- No clue about the LB
- Edge shouldn’t be much different since we have Josephs.

RBs will take a major step back on offense. I’d say we will see more of the same on the OL.

Definitely don’t think we’re hitting 10 wins this season.

7-8 wins in the regular season then a bowl win should be the realistic expectation this season.

Honestly, the most import thing for me this season is getting the RBs and WRs ready for following season.
Who are the 4 or 5 that we lose to? If we had UF’s schedule I could see it, but ours is very manageable.

I think we preferred Becht, but he was not going to leave, and Iowa st ponied up more money to make sure
This would be a great get. CBS ranked the top returning QBs in college football.

Complete Top 10:
1. Cade Klubnik (Clemson)
2. Drew Allar (Penn State)
3. Arch Manning (Texas)
4. Carson Beck (Miami)
5. Garrett Nussmeier (LSU)
6. Sawyer Robertson (Baylor)
7. Luke Altmyer (Illinois)
8. LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina)
9. Devon Dampier (New Mexico)
10. DJ Lagway (Florida)

Lagway on this list is hilarious. 12 TD / 9 INT and he’s the 10th best returning QB??

The defense may be worse but they’ll still be a good unit and certainly more athletic than last year’s defense.

The OL will be better.
Healthy Heard > Unhealthy Heard
Pendleton = Karic
Satterwhite < Mays (but they’re clearly confident)
Moe >> Spraggins
Sanders > Campbell/Davis

The right side was seriously abysmal last season.

No RB is as good as Sampson, but the committee will be plenty good. They’ll still rush for more than 2,500 yards as CJH’s teams have always done.

If they snag a viable QB, somehow, this team is good.

I thought so too. But I’ve watched some of his stuff last year and he’s above average at the very least imo. Could very well salvage the season
Watch the Penn State game. A cadaver playing QB would have improved Illinois' chances. Altmeyer sealed the Penn State win with a horrible pick 6.

So, who would be the 6 losses on our schedule? Bama, Georgia, Florida? Then what? Syracuse? Oklahoma at home? Vandy at home? Arkansas at home? Kentucky and/or Mississippi State? Outside of an absolute doomsday scenario, I can’t find six plausible losses on this year’s schedule. We could see a bit of a drop off from last year and still win 8-9 games with our schedule.
Without any proven QB or WRs, I could easily see losses to Bama, UGa, Florida at the very least. Syracuse and OU are not going to be cakewalks either mind you. Venerables and OU are desperate and invested a lot on the off season for a bounce back year. Can’t shake Arkansas at home either as they return a lot of the same team that embarrassed us last year.

IF the Alt rumors are true, then I think we can swing for 8 wins and avoid this conversation. We still need help at WR as none of those guys are proven.

So it looks like a deal with Altmyer has some legs?

He seems mechanically sound and had a nice year last year. My only worry is arm strength. Might be a blessing and disguise though if it forces our coaches to not run all go 30 times a game lol

Lol. Altmeyer’s mom doesn’t even buy that. He’s an average QB, at best.
I mean anyone who led Illinois to their best season in like 15 years in a quite stacked big 10 has earned the right to be taken seriously.

People who think we are a six loss team just because he is the qb are out of their minds.

Luke Altmeyer is plenty good. Seems like a solid consensus that he is considered a "good" college QB. Dude is a veteran, he's poised, he's won big games and he's plenty accurate.

THROWS THE BALL DEEP WITH AIR UNDER IT. If it's him, it's practically a guarantee our passing game is better. (Not hard to do) just need actual healthy WR's that can simply catch the ball and Alt has to hit the blatantly wide open ones.

Who said that? We're not a 6-loss team this year with Merk or GMac starting at QB. What I'm saying is that Altmeyer won't be an upgrade over Merk, particularly since he doesn't know our offense and isn't used to our offensive pace of play.

This is a wild assumption considering Merklinger has not done ANYthing. There’s absolutely nothing to go off of, and the coaches are looking for a starter — that tells you all you need to know.

Hate to say it but exercised the Ignore button on Easter Sunday, but anyone to admits to coming on here to pick fights with others for entertainment doesn’t deserve my attention.
I think that was probably a cover for simple lack of self control and massive overreaction. "No. I'm just having a laugh because I'm such a Krav Maga badass in real life that I have to have immense self control."

Well, Okee Dokee.
