'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

The defense may be worse but they’ll still be a good unit and certainly more athletic than last year’s defense.

The OL will be better.
Healthy Heard > Unhealthy Heard
Pendleton = Karic
Satterwhite < Mays (but they’re clearly confident)
Moe >> Spraggins
Sanders > Campbell/Davis

The right side was seriously abysmal last season.

No RB is as good as Sampson, but the committee will be plenty good. They’ll still rush for more than 2,500 yards as CJH’s teams have always done.

If they snag a viable QB, somehow, this team is good.
Your football IQ is showing. I don't know how some of you come up with your accesments. We will be able to run the football, CJH'S teams always can. The defense will be as good in most position groups, except LB, we'll be much better. Our offense will depend on whether we have a better QB1 this year, I'll just ride with CJH on that one. Also, the WR room will be much more explosive this year. Why, because they're out to prove EVERYBODY WRONG!!

Who said that? We're not a 6-loss team this year with Merk or GMac starting at QB. What I'm saying is that Altmeyer won't be an upgrade over Merk, particularly since he doesn't know our offense and isn't used to our offensive pace of play.
He's experinced and was coached by Heupel's ex-OC. He can probably pick up the offense, and probably has a huge head start on the speed of the game, reading defenses, etc... I'm not sure we can assume that he'd be behind Merk on being ready to start for UT.

I'd even say that Pendleton will be better than Karic. He's a big "team first" guy, played in/ won a playoff game, and has not allowed a single sack in his career. Almost 500 snaps. I think his addition is going to be huge for the OLine

He played for Lebby at Ole Miss. He will have a seamless transition to our O. Personally, I think Altmeyer will be better in our offense than Nico or Merk. He makes quicker reads and can throw the deep ball consistently.

He's talking out his pahtooty. He 100% hasn't watched Altmeyer play.

Without any proven QB or WRs, I could easily see losses to Bama, UGa, Florida at the very least. Syracuse and OU are not going to be cakewalks either mind you. Venerables and OU are desperate and invested a lot on the off season for a bounce back year. Can’t shake Arkansas at home either as they return a lot of the same team that embarrassed us last year.

IF the Alt rumors are true, then I think we can swing for 8 wins and avoid this conversation. We still need help at WR as none of those guys are proven.
Arkansas didn’t embarrass us. They were bad. We embarrassed ourselves (Nico and OLine mostly )

This is a wild assumption considering Merklinger has not done ANYthing. There’s absolutely nothing to go off of, and the coaches are looking for a starter — that tells you all you need to know.
No. he’s the backup QB so he has to be a superstar waiting to happen.
I dare say he’s probably the next Harrison Bailey. Hall a famer waiting to happen!!

Defense has fallen off a mini hill.

- DBs banged up and our safeties are meh. Not sure how McCoy will hold up.
- DL lost a ton of solid contributors
- No clue about the LB
- Edge shouldn’t be much different since we have Josephs.

RBs will take a major step back on offense. I’d say we will see more of the same on the OL.

Definitely don’t think we’re hitting 10 wins this season.

7-8 wins in the regular season then a bowl win should be the realistic expectation this season.

Honestly, the most import thing for me this season is getting the RBs and WRs ready for following season.
Our D upfront will be ready, the ends should be very good. Don’t underestimate our DL. I think linebackers will be good and get better as the season goes. Telander and Carter are both very good players and we have some good younger talent that should emerge there. The key on D will be how good the backend is. We must get some good play back there. Also I expect a few Dline guys will be pursued in the portal for added depth. But we still have some dudes upfront. GBO

Telander is good unless he has to cover literally anyone. Seems important. Carter is similiar to that too.

I don’t believe we take “a major step back” at RB, do we miss D Samp? Sure. However, Pey Lew and Bish are both fully capable at being great contributors in this offense.

Altmyer is the definition of meh but we can win 8-9 games with him. CJH will scheme up some lay ups and if Altmyer can connect (unlike Nico) then we’ll be fine.
Altmyer has a lot of experience and also has experience in a similar offense. Accurate down the field.

At worst, he should be as good as Nico was last year, which was mediocre most games.

He mentioned all the names we've heard from a dozen other sources. And he comes in here and marks them off one by one each time news/rumors break that it didn't work out for one reason or another.

What tweet are you referencing?
I don’t keep up with everything, but he mentioned Altmyer very early. Last Saturday to be exact.
