'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

Committed but not signed? Maybe we can swoop in?
my guess would be doubtful but who knows. I wonder how much his NIL deal would be. Can’t be crazy high for a d2 guy coming to FBS. Ole Miss does have qbs that have waited for dart to leave. He could see our room being easier to win the starting job with how young/inexperienced gmac and merklenger are rn.

I don't think KSU, Baylor, or the rest of the country will see it that way. We will, rightfully, be called hypocrites for poaching another high profile player by the entire national media should it happen. No amount of mental gymnastics on our side will change that.
I completely get what you’re saying, but What if one of the prospects we want decides to call us before we called them? Or what if someone absolutely out of the blue loves the idea of being the Tennessee quarterback and initiates the conversation ?

That's exactly what Nico did, no?

There's nothing hypocritical about it. Everyone will expect this to happen and understand.

Nico got himself kicked off a team. There's a difference. Everyone is already guilty of poaching. That's not new.

No, it's not exactly. If the reports are accurate, Nico secretly shopped himself around in December to see if he could find an offer in order to pressure Tennessee into giving him a huge salary increase and even threatened to not play in the CFP game. When Tennessee didn't budge, he stayed with the program through the Spring, waited until a couple days prior to the O&W game, then demanded a raise of nearly double what he was getting while apparently shopping himself around again for other deals. When Tennessee failed to cave in to his financial demands, he no showed practice without any communication to coaches, ignored communication attempts from the coaching staff, then eventually notified his OC via text message that he was going into the portal. I get your general sentiment and don't completely disagree but you seem to be excluding quite a bit of components to the story that are really more significant issues than if he had simply contacted another team expressing interest in potentially transferring.

Cool story. So you think staying put and not adding a guy is the right move? You think if Merk and Mac aren’t ready to go we should just flush the season right? Do you think White, Heupel, Spyre, any of the players in that locker room are good with just letting this season go?

Some people are so silly! We have a HUGE opportunity to upgrade….Lets get it done and I don’t care who’s feelings we hurt. GBO!

To me it's the same if you would've had Nico or have a 1 yr transfer that can run the system. Merk and GMAC weren't planning on this being anything but a development year anyway.
True but what QB is gonna be able to come in here and be able to run Heupels system this quick?

Glad the coaches don’t act like fans like you. You seem to think just any starting QB can just come in here and be an upgrade. Hurt feelings? lol. Heupel has to think about team chemistry and the locker room. The attitude in the locker room cost us a win against SC in 2022.

And how do you know another QB is gonna come in here and beat out Merk? Oh that’s right you don’t.

Not any QB, but I can list 5 right now that would be, and that's not even considering G-mac or J-merk. The truth is Nico was way overrated.. he should have been benched after the Florida game.

That doesn't make us hypocrites. No one is attacking UCLA or Tulane(lol) or UNC. The player made a locker room choice by walking out of obligations.

Nico wouldn't be in the position he is in if he entered the portal after spring ball without the theatrics.

It's like Nic read too many Hollywood scripts and thought the real world worked like that.
