QB Justin Worley commitment

No, what you should understand is that we have a proven OC that knows QB talent and am pretty sure knows how to evaluate it. Not only did this staff want Worley but so to did the last staff. You guys want to look at stars and complain about Randolph, Smith, and Posey... but all 3 of those will more than likely get their 4th star by signing day. Even Saban signs three stars my goodness look at some of the 2-3 stars on his Bama squads and LSU squads.

You can't tell me that Dooley, Chaney, Thompson, Baggett, Smith, and Wilcox cannot spot talent.

I don't know if Dooley, Chaney, Thompson, Baggett, Smith, and Wilcox can spot talent or not. You seem to be convinced that they are masters at spotting undiscovered gems mainly because some of the players they have landed aren't that highly regarded.

You are correct, though. Saban signs 3*. Without checking the ratings, I'd bet Meyer and Tressel and Brown and Stoops, et al, have as well. You have to have those guys to fill out a roster and hope they develop in their upperclassman years into players that contribute. But you better believe they are hauling in elite level talent as well. That is why they are BCS bound every year.

I'm glad we signed Worley and hope he is one of those undiscovered gems, but I can't get overly excited about a 3* recruit, even if Notre Dame offered him, too. I also wouldn't erase the rest of my QB wish list if I were on the coaching staff just yet, either.

Yeah, it's not like his entire family had already moved to Knoxville or anything...

But boy if they hadn't moved....you know Bray would have rather played for Kiffin. Who wouldn't? Who in there right mind wouldn't want to play for the legendary Lane Kiffin?

Agree except this was either the top QB on the board or the 2nd. This staff didn't go recruiting Rivers hard or several others that had legit interest in us last year because they felt like Worley was the best.

who had him the top qb on the board?

Welcome to VolNation Justin Worley! Anybody who wants to wear the Orange & White is OK by me. I don't care if he has 1 Star or 15 Stars. He chose to be a Tennessee Volunteer. Good luck during your senior season. Welcome to the family!!!
GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Um no, his entire family literally moved from California and bought a house in Knoxville...not to mention that Kiffin already had Scroggins at USC, and missing on him here was the only reason we took Bray in the first place...

And thats why he had ED orgeron call bray right?

I think what this does....is give the staff the ability to go into recruits homes and when asked "what qb(s) commit(s) do you have?" to give an answer. If it happens to be a recruit in SC, I would think that certainly may help in landing some more kids who might be on the fence with UT/other school.

Just a question. Wasn't Worley on the top of Kiffin's board as well last year? I think we have been pursuing him much longer than Dooley has been here and now that we have him committed he is not as good as what Kiff would have recruited. I am confused.

do you want more? Its got quotes from Jeff Bray.

"a pitch to several recruits gathered in a room over speakerphone, and that he offered USC scholarships to some players"

note he didn't say specifically that his son was one of those players offered.

i very much doubt he had him over wittek or kesler

All this negative talk about CDD is just asinine. Give the man some credit for what he's building. There are many recruits in the 2010 class that have repeatedly said that they didn't even consider UT while Kiffin was here but when Dooley came calling, they took a look and liked what they saw.

I for one think that Dooley will not only build the program back up, but will do so in a way that will make us proud of the athletes we root for. There is a lot to be said about an above average recruit that will work hard, go to class, and represent the university with pride. Over the last few years, UT has had its share of top level talent that either didn't want to work to get better or forgot that they were student-athletes and that has been a huge factor in getting us where we are today.

If you negative fans can find negativity in this commitment, then you can find negativity in anything.

Please take your troll ___ back to Berkely. We don't need any football wannabees around here. Whereas Tennessee is a tradionally relevant program currently rebuilding, Cal is, well, whatever Cal is. I just know it isn't relevant now nor has it been very relevant during my lifetime.

I believe Colt McCoy did ok as a 3 star qb on that list.....
You're correct. How many others? Exactly. The chances that Worley is more Colt McCoy and less Joe Cox, Arkelton hall, Domenic Natale, Evan Sharpley, Jimmy Barnes, Tavita Pritchard, Joey Elliott, and Jonathan Garner isn't looking good, though.

They participated in the most well known play in the history of college football.
