QB Joey Aguilar commits to UT from portal

Tennessee just did the most hilarious thing possible. LFGBO!!!
Hilarious, yes, but it's really the only move they could have made. No way they were going to find anything better at this late date. Wonder how the WRs in the portal will perceive this move? Rhetorical. Geez. Can't really wrap my head around this.

Again...they didn't take Nico to be an backup...But some are saying this APP State QB will start at UT. He left because he knew he had no chance at UCLA. He will be an insurance policy here to Merk and Mac will redshirt.
Why redshirt MacIntyre with Faizon coming next year? Play everyone some and see who has the best performance

The system is/was set up like rotating crops. When Heupel recruits a QB, he lays out for them the plan where there's competition every year, there's a top QB coming in every year, and you're mentored and practiced until--at the worst--your senior year you ball out and take calls on draft day.

But the competition is real every season, so if you're good enough to start your junior year, so be it.

It's the best compromise between preparation and execution. Unless a boneheaded father screws up the roster, you get to take the field and show your talent at the height of your college development.

When we go 7-5 next year, we can all feel better knowing we didn't go after a better qb because it was the unethical thing to do.

Hard to believe this was the best we could do.... Lord, I hope I'm wrong.
Is it your "gut" telling you or are you relying on your years of college coaching and talent evaluating? 🤔

That's right. He had no chance at UCLA because whoever is paying Nico is going to want to see a return on their investment.

That doesn't mean Aguilar isn't good. In fact, let's be real about this. Nico never ran the offense as well as it could be run, we all know that. Maybe this guy can.

Tell us about your college coaching career and how you would have handled this "Freako" situation.... 🦗 🦗 🦗 🦗 🦗
He might be brought in for a backup...Not a starter that some are making him out to be. He's an insurance policy and we didn't want a true freshman as a backup. We wasn't bringing in a topnotch starter. There wasn't any out there in the first place.
