Just to be clear, where has anyone heard that Bray uses illegal drugs. I think it is unfair to put this on him without evidence. We also don't have evidence on Simms, only evidence from the past. Hopefully both are doing very well and staying clean. Peer pressure is not an excuse to do something wrong. I just graduated from UT in 2009 and I am now taking graduate courses there. I have never used drugs, and I know first hand it is no unreasonable to expect the same out of our players. I empathize with those who struggle, and hopefully we can help them, but that does not mean we should rid our football team of its high standard. We should expect more from our University's representatives.

Simms will start because he currently gives us the best chance to win. The End.

Really? So I guess my kids are completely oblivious to the players that robbed some teenagers a gun point, or the basketball players who had guns in their car and marijuana, or the "bar brawl" this year? My oldest is 10, he watches the news, and he sees that the guys he cheers for on Saturday, are the same people involved in these incidents.

These guys are given a great opportunity to attend the University of Tennessee for free, and play sports, they are only asked to represent the school in a positive light and to not break any laws or team rules for 4 years.

To me that's not too much to ask for a $150-250K free ride....

Like i said, its your responsibility to be a positive role model (which i am sure is what your take on it is being that you serve our country) and for your son to realize thats wrong and understand why thats wrong. Every since the existance of man, people have broken the law. It will continue whether your son watches the news or not.

Really? Have you ever been in either one because I have been in both. I can tell you that they are very similiar. Especially since Coach Dooley said that one of his goals in the Vols for Life program is to help these young ppl grow into responsible young adults who can make capable and intelligent decisions about their future....

Kind of completely goes against what you just said...

Yes ive attended college. Never the military. Went to college straight out of high school. That might be Dooleys goal but that doesnt mean its going to work. We have some fine student athletes on our team (Nick Reveiz, Chris Walker, etc.) who are loaded with character and will go on to be succesful with or without football. But 75% of these kids want their shot at the NFL. Thats it. They could care less about character.

You're right ppl have broken the law, but it shouldn't be the ppl who have been selected to recieve a free tuition, place to live, food to eat, on the grounds that they play sports and represent the University of Tennessee.

Your argument is so broad, and full of holes. I'm down with you, sometimes you just have to admit that the other person has no clue what they are even arguing about. And there is no way that no matter how many good points you make, they will never admit they are wrong...

Similar? Seriously?

I'll grant that mine was similar, but there is no way that college, in general, is similar to the military.

I see it that way, you see it that way. But youre missing the point. Most of these kids dont care about free tuition. And i have a bachelors degree in civil engineering, *******.

Outside of his size, I have never heard anything concrete against Bray. I have only heard people on here say he isn't motivated, he smokes weed, etc. Everything I have seen from him is impressive, namely the OW game and practice reviews.

With Simms, we have real evidence that shows his ability and character. Louisville, Juco, and OW game. They have all been negative IMO.

I do think Simms will be our starter. Do I think he has the talent Bray has, No. But Brays talent hasnt developed yet. Its there, he just has to be shown how to use it in D1 SEC football.

You have a point, but I think at this moment in time, Bray's "realizable" ability is still greater than Simms.

Not completely, but it has the same point, Educating you, and turning a young person into a responsible adult...

Trust me, I know that they are not the same. The Military is like college with a bunch of ppl yelling you, and more drinking... well about even actually

Not a doubt in my mind. But along with ability, has to come confidence. Something that I think he hasnt developed yet.

Bray has 0% chance of starting game 1,2, or 3.
Simms has "some" experience and will start the season. I like what Bray has and he will be very good...but not good enough now.

That's been my opinion, the lazy stuff and weed stuff are all speculation of a fanbase in football fever...

All of that aside, I think Bray will be a great QB going into the future and will be able to lead this team back to greatness. He is just young and unexperienced right now in college ball.

All good points, but I think we may all simply have our own feeling about these two young men. I think right now, Tyler Bray gives our team a better chance to win, and he is the better quarterback. That is despite his size, age, and lack of experience. Still, I understand others' points for favoring Simms. I have a feeling we will see more interceptions and bad decision-making with Simms over Bray. Again, this is just my thought. What are yours?

Although he did make some mistakes in the OW game, whetehr it be nerves or what, but it seemed to me that he could read a defense a little better than Bray. I dont think there will be many interceptions thrown by Simms and i think that will be a huge deciding factor in the starter.
