My God, NS is a sophomore who has played in 4 games, 5 if you count the mop up against UAB, and already people don't think he can get any better. Statements like that are exactly why mike Hamilton doesn't listen to the fans. Most don't have a clue. If a player is already as good as he can get with that amount of experience, why would you ever redshirt anyone(other than injury). Sometimes fans get it, but to say Nick will never get better is just crazy. He hasn't even had an off season with the first team.
I think we just had one go over our heads. This is evidently Cotton's attempt at humor. I get it now. Ha, Ha.
The Dear Nick letter was a bit of artistic license, but I'm completely serious about doing something else, even if that something includes the fallen angel.
This offense is lousy. I was an English major, and, truth be told, I don't really have the vocabulary to describe how bad it is. And despite all of the support for St. Nick, the best thing people seem to be able to say about it is that it doesn't turn the ball over, which is not really what I would consider the goal of the offense to be.
We are 107 in scoring offense, and 112 in total offense, and it isn't getting better. We have Vandy, UK, and SC left on the schedule, and all three have pretty good defenses. All three offenses struggle, but we are going to have to find a way other than Eric Berry interception returns to put points on the board to any hope of postseason play, no matter how unappealing a Liberty Bowl bid might be. While I agree that he hasn't been the only problem, I have seen nothing from Nick Stephens that would indicate he is the answer.
How about an offensive line and a sign of a running game. Peyton Manning would look average with 2nd and 9 and 3rd and 9 the entire game.
Dear Nick, thank you so much for all you have done for us. You were there when times were tough, and gave us a shoulder to cry on. I really thought we might have something good going, but after four weeks, it just isn't working out. I'm going back to Jon, but hope we can still be friends.
That's right, I said it. Stick the Volunteer pariah back under center. Risk fumbled handoffs or passes to Fulmer in hopes that something might finally click and shake up what is easily the worst offense I have ever seen fielded at UT.
Consider that we are averaging an anemic 17.5 points per game since switching quarterbacks. That number, though terrible, doesn't really tell the whole story, however, as 14 of those points came by the defense, and 10 have come as direct results of turnovers. Even without discounting the meaningless, phantom penalty aided late touchdown last night, that puts the offense responsible for 11.5 per game. How many games is that going to win?
At least with Crompton, there was the possibility of getting better. Right now, I see an offense that doesn't do anything well. Change it back, or change it up, but change it. I actually couldn't believe we kept running the same personel out there last night time and time again to do the same thing, when it obviously wasn't working (and hasn't all season.)Doing the same thing three times in a row and then punting is going to continue to get the same results.
