I also have said we'll go 15-0 but my premonition says we'll be 14-1.

I go against my gut quite often because I'm superstitious. You'll never see me predict a loss or even a close win.

So you're a spiritual person of faith who's superstitious and has premonitions. Sounds about right. It's all starting to make sense.

I have a lot of respect for CBJ as an individual just because the programs seems to have a much better feel than in the past. He may pull the wings off of flies in private but I don't think so. As far as I know he didn't berate individuals on the team. He maintained his cool during the game and accepted blame for the poor preparations during the post game interview. I've heard many teams' coaches acknowledge the play of the competition but I've never seen one go up and address the whole opposing team to praise their performance. Very cool indeed.

In a few weeks we will look back and decide either that this game was the eye opener that the Vols needed or that this game was the first indicator that the kool aid we have been chugging all summer now has a bad taste.

"We'll see." said the Zen master.

I had a much different take on him crashing Appy State's huddle post game. Thought it was wrong to do, had no business doing it and was disrespectful and condescending.

I thought the Appy State coach looked like he wanted to throat punch him. If Jones wanted to commend the players and coaches he should've done so individually on the field after the game and/or during his post game presser.

Personally, I'm not gonna worry about this team just yet. We played a damn good ball team last night. Yes we made some mistakes and a lot needs to be corrected but I think everyone needs to take a step back from the ledge. If we look the same during the VT game next Saturday then I think we need to start worrying. I think our boys let the hype get to their heads some. Hopefully we'll look back at the end of the season and think last night could've been the best thing to happen to this team. It was a dose of reality. One positive I take from last night is if we played that awful against a team like that any one of the last 5 or so years we wouldn't have won that game. We finally have enough talent to where we can sleepwalk through a game and find a way to win

To be honest I was not nervous at all.

Great teams find ways to pull out games like that. We did it. I have zero concern moving forward.

If anything my faith in team 120 has gone up. We might end up getting the bounces that went against us last year. And that's what every championship team needs.
Yea - and Coleman Thomas may declare for the draft after this year - you are delusional

Look man I give you as hard of a time as anyone. And honestly, I love your positive attitude and faith. But your first sentence is a flat out lie and you know it.

There is no way any UT fan wasnt nervous about really losing this game is complete nonsense.

Yea. I thought the same. It was calculated though. Butch understands the circus and plays tot he cameras in created "spontaneous moments". (I think back to the Georgia game where he busted in on Dobbs interview to tell him he loved him.)

None of the players looked happy about it either.

It was condescending and probably done to make the impression of "hey you little fellers almost got us" Here's a pat on the back from the big program.

My opinion is... If you get your feelings hurt over people on Twitter or getting booed when you play like crap and lack intensity and effort....get thicker skin or get out.

Fans make sacrifices as well, sacrifices to come see you. Spend their money to come see you. And if you aren't playing up to par, you deserved to be booed. This is the University of Tennessee. Championships ARE owed to us. Period. Go get them.

I think one of the biggest issues last night is the team had that "don't worry we will win" mentality with no sense of urgency. Even when Sutton dropped the punt and they scored I was like oh well we will still win big. Finally turned it on at the end, but up until they point we were convinced it was a W just by showing up. Not to mention the play calling had me all worked up. They were stacking the box all night and we continued to try to run.

Great, well said article. I too was very nervous all night, and was kinda let down. But we can't give up on this team, because my god, they didn't give up on us last night. They showed up when it mattered. Here's to a great week of practice, and a Virginia tech ass whooping!

And in an extremely huge twist, that's exactly what you guys are doing.
He said he felt good about everything all in all and you guys are attacking the hell out of him.

Exact same posters every year.
If you don't throw your hands up in the air and declare defeat, you get snarky comments and smart azz remarks.
Followed by one of you playing the victim card like you just did.
Like you're the ones who catch grief for not thinking like everyone else.
Hypocritical bs plain and simple.

It's just what they do...and it will never change. :)

I do like the article. However, I have a problem with this statement "what did you expect." I, as a Vol fan, expected the Vols to come out and play like they wanted to win a championship. Like they were one of the most talented teams in the country. I wanted the Vols to come out and make a statement that would help to validate a top 10 ranking. None of that happened.

She says that thinking App st being a cupcake is dishonest? Funny how Vegas and almost everyone else said they would be. The fact is we were 21 point favorites in our own house and should have played up to that expectation and we didnt.

I was kinda thinking the same thing but I rewound it a couple of times to look. Satterfield and his team looked receptive. I think whatever was said was genuine and an "in the moment thing". I guess if bounds were over stepped we will hear some more in the next few days. I do think Butch wanted to genuinely tell those those young men what a tremendous job they did even though they lost. Again I guess we will see how it unfolds

Just gotta ask... do you have premonitions about, say, Bigfoot or firestorm's hairline? You could build quite the following in The Pub.

I keep mine primed and ready. Never know when there might be a fork to pitch. Or, never know when there might be a need to do whatever it is people who own them do.

No one has the right to question our fan hood at this point. If you cheer for the Vols now, you've waded through 500 yards of foulness many can't imagine to get to the point we are expected to compete for championships.
We have the right to b*tch a little about what we saw Thursday night. Get over it.

Article states that we should not be concerned about the play calling because we were holding back is BS. Nothing but wishful thinking. How stupid does a coach have to be to not adjust once it has been determined that his game plan (not show anyone anything) is not working? That was determined early and ASU lead the whole game. It is and should be a concern. It is 100% up to Debord to prove he can call plays not some writer trying to convince me or anyone else that he just brought one page of the playbook. IT's not '98.

correct--I really can't tell if Debord/Jones is that stupid to hold back the entire night hoping to inch out a win or if this is all they got... What happened to the offense we ran during the bowl game... Dobbs was definitely being held back... or he was hurt... which he wasn't... here's to hoping whatever the issue was/is, it gets worked out this week---I think its a safe bet VT's D coordinator is a bit sharper than AppSt's...

Stop what?

Unlike ya'll I don't think the team that spanked #13 Northwestern in the Outback Bowl 45-6 forgot to play football in the off-season.

We're as talented a team as we thought we were before kickoff. This was just a bad game played by our players. And App State is better than people think. At the end of the day its about wins and losses. And we're 1-0.

I agree all around.
