I also have said we'll go 15-0 but my premonition says we'll be 14-1.
I go against my gut quite often because I'm superstitious. You'll never see me predict a loss or even a close win.
I have a lot of respect for CBJ as an individual just because the programs seems to have a much better feel than in the past. He may pull the wings off of flies in private but I don't think so. As far as I know he didn't berate individuals on the team. He maintained his cool during the game and accepted blame for the poor preparations during the post game interview. I've heard many teams' coaches acknowledge the play of the competition but I've never seen one go up and address the whole opposing team to praise their performance. Very cool indeed.
In a few weeks we will look back and decide either that this game was the eye opener that the Vols needed or that this game was the first indicator that the kool aid we have been chugging all summer now has a bad taste.
"We'll see." said the Zen master.
Yea - and Coleman Thomas may declare for the draft after this year - you are delusionalTo be honest I was not nervous at all.
Great teams find ways to pull out games like that. We did it. I have zero concern moving forward.
If anything my faith in team 120 has gone up. We might end up getting the bounces that went against us last year. And that's what every championship team needs.

I had a much different take on him crashing Appy State's huddle post game. Thought it was wrong to do, had no business doing it and was disrespectful and condescending.
I thought the Appy State coach looked like he wanted to throat punch him. If Jones wanted to commend the players and coaches he should've done so individually on the field after the game and/or during his post game presser.
Great, well said article. I too was very nervous all night, and was kinda let down. But we can't give up on this team, because my god, they didn't give up on us last night. They showed up when it mattered. Here's to a great week of practice, and a Virginia tech ass whooping!

And in an extremely huge twist, that's exactly what you guys are doing.
He said he felt good about everything all in all and you guys are attacking the hell out of him.
Exact same posters every year.
If you don't throw your hands up in the air and declare defeat, you get snarky comments and smart azz remarks.
Followed by one of you playing the victim card like you just did.
Like you're the ones who catch grief for not thinking like everyone else.
Hypocritical bs plain and simple.

Article states that we should not be concerned about the play calling because we were holding back is BS. Nothing but wishful thinking. How stupid does a coach have to be to not adjust once it has been determined that his game plan (not show anyone anything) is not working? That was determined early and ASU lead the whole game. It is and should be a concern. It is 100% up to Debord to prove he can call plays not some writer trying to convince me or anyone else that he just brought one page of the playbook. IT's not '98.
Stop what?
Unlike ya'll I don't think the team that spanked #13 Northwestern in the Outback Bowl 45-6 forgot to play football in the off-season.
We're as talented a team as we thought we were before kickoff. This was just a bad game played by our players. And App State is better than people think. At the end of the day its about wins and losses. And we're 1-0.
