Couple of funny things about Puerto Rico apparently they owe $85 billion. Is that island even worth 85 billion? It's kind of a dump.
Also cockfighting is legal there... Why hasn't the liberal media blown that up?
In before some GOP candidates desperately looking to get on that stage imply, perhaps even not so subtly, that its indicative of something ... else.
puerto rico needs a good injection of austerity and fiscal conservatism.
I think maybe lg was inferring that there was a racial line of reasoning some gopers might take, only the fruitcakes and loonies. it always seems that race is on the mind of the left wingers like lg.

Yes, Obama. He is a buzzword and an arch-vulture for those who would have us buy into poor plans.
Puerto Rico is a symptom of a (and I still have to debate with myself whether or not the US is weakening in the sense that outsiders would think it's weakening) admittedly weakening center (for whatever reasons).
Most of this weakening has absolutely nothing to do with Obama, nothing to do with Republicans or Democrats, and, honestly, not much to do with Bush (although his Bush Doctrine did admittedly weaken us and our peripheral estate).
Rather, it has everything to do with centuries-old policies that refuse to invest in these peoples (other than their military capacities).
While I wish we'd confront our extended territories (Puerto Rico, I consider in our own backyard and close to us) more honestly and with more concern ( ) they'll most likely be beholden to us, barring some sort of cataclysm in the US. (Give these people full US rights - not phony US crap-tarding with the southern border kind of bull****).
But Puerto Rico really worries me. That's something that I'd never thought I'd have to say until the George Bush II administration weakened this nation so badly. We need Puerto Rico. I mean, need it. I'm not saying it needs to be a state. But we need that foothold.
You don't ever quite understand the significance of the Carribbean to US foreign policy and power projection (and economy) until you understand the significance of holding Puerto Rico. We could blockade all of the Carribean, should we have to, but it's always nice to have an indigenous philosopher (Puerto Rico) there already, letting everyone else around know that the US is cool and no need to pursue other interests.
In the big scheme of things, PR is not that important unless you are a cruise ship operator, and even then there are lots of other ports with good rum.Little teen girl in the high chair, I'm thinking about important things.
You go back to thinking about Kylie Jenner and her selfies.
Leave real men's work to real men, little teen girl in the high chair.

In the big scheme of things, friendo, the Carribbean needs to be maintained as an American lake.
You've taken it for granted that that's the case, but it wasn't always.
But why I'm I even talking to some of you. All you care about is political party/ideology survivability. Not the country's survivability. That's where the Russians whip our asses like a bunch of pathetic dogs, no matter the case. They're committed to national survivability while you're committed to your individual interests.
I dare you to even argue with that.
Actually, you probably will, in a half-**** attempt to save yourself, but I honestly defy any of you on here as far as the country's survivability is concerned. You're mostly just mercenaries. I don't care if you've served in the military or not.
Russians eat your lunch.
