Public Service Announcement--Dooley

Dooley is a grown man and will be just fine. I don't have anything against him personally, but if the OP thinks his thread will temper idiot reactions on this board or facebook or any other social media, he's completely lost it. BTW, that kind of negativity does not affect the program near to the dgree that Dooley apologists think it does. It goes on at every program where there re losing seasons paired with coaching turmoil, and programs survive just fine.

Still wish Dooley could have succeeded. I almost turned on him after UK last year, felt betrayed by him after UF this year, and admitted he wasn't the guy after MSU.

Dooley may have been the guy, but because of his hire of Sunseri we'll never know.

Why on earth should we thank him? UT gave him a HUGE opportunity and he has failed. He should thank UT and this fan base for allowing him the HUGE honor of walking the same sidelines General Neyland walked. No sir, I'll not thank him for failing.

I agree we oils be classy but you know what people have the right to express their feelings. Also stop acting like this guy did us a favor last time I checked he got a muliti million dollar contract. We did him a favor. Yeah he did all of the thing you mentioned but that was his job he didn't do it for free. If we are winning he would accept all the glory so when he fails take all the grief also

My point in writing a thread, was not to cultivate a mass movement but to extend a personal opinion, which is the reason for forums. How can we reprimand our players for acting out of character, when as a fan, we act with such shallowness and condemn a man for trying to do his best? That is fine to compare our fans to others, but as a person with an opinion I would like to see my fellow vol fans hold themselves to a higher standard.

Thank him for effort. Running a clean program for 3 years. Stabilizing the program. Do you realize we have now a great foundation for a "good" coach to come in and make immediate impact. We have great O line, few studs in defense , great WRs and QBs. We lack in shchemes and coaching. Dooley did put it together for next coach to come in and win. Kind of like Zook did for Meyer and yes Meyer did thank him publicly.

Coach Dooley is a class act and always will be. I just wish we Tennessee fans weren't so blamed impatient. Realistically, three years is not enough time to turn things around, particularly when we are starting more or less from ground zero. Who knows? Maybe in 6 or 7 years with Dooley at the helm, winning a few games that we weren't supposed to win, we could become the team that again leads the SEC in virtually every category. We all wish him the best whatever happens!

That's part of his job! The other part of his job was to win games and he hasn't.

So we should thank him for taking 6 million already and another 5 million to come shortly and for what? Leading our team out onto the field each week to get their teeth kicked in by any team that's good? Haha you guys crack me up. So here goes, Thanks for Coach for taking the cash but not doing your job. There, you happy?

Great post. If you can't see where we were and where we are now you're blind or your lust for winning is clouding your judgement. I like CDD and respect him for the task he undertook. Is he suceeding? No. Do I honestly feel he gave his all to this program? Yes.

Just because you are class act doesn't mean you the man for the job. Dooley = Tebow

Always amusing to see # of posters upset over the required payout if you do not let a coach fulfill the document the university and the coach signed. I believe many need to look up CONTRACT in the dictionary. AD & coach enter into a legal obligation in good faith.

 Agree. "Naïve" was the word that came to mind for me. Perhaps their only experience in the work place has been as an "at will employee"? I suspect if said posters had an employment contract, I doubt they would leave $$$ on the table upon termination.

I agree with the OP 100%. Honestly when he was announced to be our new coach after kiffin left and after doing some research on him I always viewed him as more of a long term interim than the guy that would lead us back to the promised land. His experience as both a coach and AD at LaTech made him perfect to come in here and stabilize and rebuild the roster. But hes done that now and its now time to find a true x's and O's type coach that can get us over the hump, that can not only win the games theyre suppose to but also win some were not expected to.
