They dont "have" to compensate for anything. Unless you are paying for the service, there is no compensation to get. Trying to build in value for lost time online is about as far off from reality that you can get. If you were paying a monthly service fee for it, yes, but for a free service, not at all. Now I will agree with you if you can show me anywhere where sony or the game developers have written that they will provide online capabilities for each game. Also, what would happen if they decided that they were going to charge for what they had been providing for free before, you think you have any grounds at all to sue them? Legitimate compensation lol
Let's say the ability to play online is down for a total of 2 months. NCAA Football 2011 has a useful life of 1 year since it will be replaced by NCAA Football 2012. If you assume that roughly 25% of the value of the game is due to online play (of course, this percentage is up for debate), then PSN should cut a check to every owner of NCAA Football 2011 that had played an online game prior to the network outage equal to 2/12 * 0.25 * Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of the game. Repeat this procedure for all games. They could crunch these numbers with computers in nothing flat, and then they would have given legitimate compensation for this outage.
Chances of this actually happening: 0%
Who said anything whatsoever about compensating anyone for PSN's free online service? It sure wasn't me. I said that the value of every PS3 game has been negatively impacted by this outage. That's a simple fact. Of course Sony is under no obligation to "compensate" anyone. Of course, PS3 users are under no obligation to continue to be PS3 users either, so it would be a wise move to offer compensation. It's a marketing expense.
it is true. this whole deal has had a huge negative impact on sony. they would be idiots to not offer compensation or a reward to existing members. i am sure they have lost thousands of customers every day that this has gone on. honestly, they really have no choice but to offer some sort of compensation. what a lot of people don't realize is that psn+ free for 30 days is no reward or compensation at all as long as sony controls what you can get out of psn+. it's really only a matter of time before all psn users are paying to play online anyway. how long until that happens is the question.
Honestly short of giving out free games, I dont think there is anything realistic that they can do as far as "compensation" to make everyone happy.
I just tried it on mine and it is still working. I'm assuming you let it yet to log-in since you got to the title screen. From there all I did was select a movie and it started playing. How are you guys watching Netflix? I can get to my title screen where it shows my queue and all, but it disconnects when I try to play something. I thought I read that people were still using it.
I'd appreciate help as I had to kill my 360 gold account to get my credit card out of the M$ system.

This is what I do.What i do train is click on netflix, it takes me to the psn login, I select sign it and it says psn is undergoing maintenence, then I mash o to mack out. That then pulls up my netflix screen then prompts me to login again and I again select login and mash o to back out and then I can select a movie. If you get that far and select something to play and it won't then I have no clue
