Alright fangirls and fanboys, with both systems coming out with the next gen of consoles this year I figured it would be great time to start spreading the rumors.

So... PS fanboys post your stuff, and xbox fangirls post yours. Or if your the few who has both, feel free to post any info you run up on.

PS4:
PS4 Report: More Power than Xbox 720, Media-Sharing Controller, Late 2013 Release

One source said the ps4 will be 50% more powerful than the 720 also very simple to use.

The controller will have a small touch screen in center, taking out start and select buttons.

It will record gameplay and allow users to share on internet. (would be awesome for people who constantly post gameplay youtube vids)

Will have 4GB RAM and possibly 8 GB by release and will push 176 GB per second.

PS4 can share videos, screens - Report - GameSpot.com

Sony will be announcing the new system on February 20th in New York.

Pretty exciting rumors, Sony has a few suprises I believe that's why they are waiting so long on the announcement and everything else. Ive read many time where kaz harai has said he wanted xbox to release first and do everything first because he didn't want Microsoft to come up with something better.

That's all the rumors and links where I have read them.

Wonder if Sony is tired of Microsoft kicking their ass?

I find this very hard to believe and just wild speculation. The rest seems plausible. I do believe the specs on paper were better for the PS but I doubt everything is 100% set in stone or known yet.

Looking forward to the announcement. Didn't expect to see either until late Sprint leading up to E3. Hopefully this means there will be playable demos and lots of first hand reaction to the new stuff.

Thought the same thing. There are to many self proclaimed sources out there. The one feat i would be very happy with though is the 15 min recording of gameplay. Guess we will find out february 20th

I don't like the idea of the controller having a touch screen in the middle. I could see people accidentally pausing in a high action moment and it altering what they're trying to do.

True but im sure it has some type of lock screen. If not the dualshock will probably be compatible with the ps4. My concern would be the price and durability of it. I havnt slammed but one controller in my life but i dont wanna worry bout my screen cracking if i drop it or getting tobacco juice behind the screen

the PS3 is more powerful than the 360 but it has never taken advantage of that power advantage, cross platform games don't look or play any better.

No price yet, hasn't been an "official announcement", not until feb 20th. Im sure they will give a price range. If your serious of getting one and want it on release date I would pre order the day it available to. Looks like sony is shooting to release it a few weeks before Christmas so it should be at best buy, gamestop, walmart, etc... Personally I'm gonna pre order it from amazon if Im able to.

why on earth would you want to be among the first owners of the PS4? History has shown that early adopters experience nothing but pain and heartache.

The same holds for the next xbox as well

Amazon pre-orders are the way to go. I will stick with Sony unless microsoft blows it away.

Warranty. I got my big boy ps3 week of release. Ran 4 years no prob. Not sure how it causes heartache when you can take it back an get another brand new one. I know maybe 50% of them will run flawless and the other 50 wont. Many games will be releasing around christmas that will be on ps4. Just me but id rather not wait two months to play bf4 or killzone 4 after it releases.

Oh no I'm wanting to buy then sell on ebay.

I saw a couple PS3 sell for 4200 dollars on ebay when they came out.

Exactly. I'll buy any and all of these I can get my hands on between release and Christmas simply to resell them. Once Christmas comes and they are no longer a "must have" Christmas item for rich parents trying to make this the best Christmas ever, they'll start to become readily available in stores and the secondhand resale market will all but evaporate. But for that month or so, there's going to be a lot of money to be made for people who can get their hands on one.

Also, eBay is so 2005. No need to pay those seller fees and wait for auctions to end when you can just throw them up on Craigslist and have them sold in a couple hours with no fees whatsoever.

Really? How much you think you can get over what you actually paid.

As someone who owned a 360 from the first wave produced, I can attest that they were kind of a hassle. I got the RROD 3 or 4 times within the first year before they finally sent me a totally different console. It's not quite as simple as taking it back to the store for a new one either, you have to call Microsoft, have them send you a shipping box, mail it to them, have it repaired and then have it shipped back to you. The whole process usually took 3-4 weeks. It took them a couple more years to extend the warranty on RROD out to 3 years instead of one, and I can say that on more than one occasion after that I wrapped my console in a bath towel to purposely cause the RROD simply to get a warranty repair and start the warranty over. Once all the issues were ironed out, I got a new one a couple years ago and have had no problems since. In all I think I've sent my 360 either 6 or 7 times for RROD. Still, Xbox Live blows PSN so far out of the water it's worth a little bit of aggravation to me to own the 360 instead of PS3.

A few grand.

I don't know about that, but from what I remember with the 360, in that couple weeks before Christmas, it would have been no problem whatsoever to get double or triple the retail price for a secondhand one.

The thing that will always stick out in my mind is that on Dec. 23 of that year, Best Buy was supposed to get their final shipment of 360's in before Christmas. I was going to try and show up a couple hours early that morning if the line wasn't too bad, but I was eating at Applebee's on Cedar Bluff the night before and drove by there at about 6 PM and there were already at least 100 people in tents and lawn chairs camped out between BB and Guitar Center. The temperature was down in the teens that night, and people waited 15+ hours hoping to get a 360. Needless to say I didn't bother trying to get one then. A day or two after Christmas, I went by the store and was asking one of the employees when they expected another shipment of 360's and how many they had gotten on the 23rd. He said they had gotten 12. So after all that waiting, there had to be at least 100 people or so who sat there all night in the freezing cold and went home empty handed, but that's how great the demand for brand new consoles can get in the days and weeks leading up to Christmas.

I ended up getting one with no wait sometime during the first week of January at Wal Mart. Once Christmas is over, so is the ridiculous demand.

Yeah that would be aggrevatin. I guess i was lucky with my ps3. I agree live is so much better. Psn has made some good upgrades on ps3 as far as the atore but just has no cool features. Really wish ps3 had party chat

The PS3 is far enough ahead of the 360, Sony essentially skipped a gen. Instead of blowing Microsoft out of the water, it blew up in Sony's face as developers had a much easier time developing games for the 360 then finding a way to port over rather than the alternative. I think Sony has learned its lesson, and some of the rumors suggest that the PS4's processor will be similar (if not the same one) to that of the 720, making it much easier for developers to embrace the PS4 than it was/is to lean towards the PS3.

Hopefully, the games that are currently much better on the 360 than the PS3 (NCAA Football and Madden, for example) should perform as well on either next gen platform. But even if the 720 carries a slight lead, as kwebb said, unless the next Xbox absolutely blows away the PS4, I will be going with Sony.
